Manager - R&DOverview
A Manager - R&D plans and directs all aspects of development activities within their teams. This means that they ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives. They report into a Senior Manager or a Director of R&D or in some cases the VP of R&D. They work closely with R&D Leadership, Product Management and the Security Services(S2) to ensure their teams are building what our customers and users need in a timely fashion. A Manager can have multiple team and technical leads reporting to them.
Scope of Role
Generates and manages day to day work for team(s). Works with Product Team to define and deliver on the roadmap.
Responsibilities

Execution of process and accountable for the outcome of the R&D team

Accountable to deliver on aligned team deliverables (timely and with quality, meeting acceptance criteria)

Use their technical understanding to question and provide feedback as they see fit

Actively uses metrics to understand team performance, and coach/support to improve as needed

Ensuring integrity of metrics and artifcats and that they represent reality to the organization

People management including career growth, team skills needs assessment, and coaching/reviews

Tracks skills available and compares to needs for projects coming for team (ie. technical skills)
