Job Description
The Quality Process Engineer plays an important role in ensuring products and processes are designed to meet internal and external customers’ standards for food/feed safety, and quality while maintaining operational efficiencies.
This role will report to the Regional Director, Quality and Food Safety supporting the regional FFSQ team and regional manufacturing locations.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Develop and implement quality control points with defined action limits and corrective actions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality inspection and sampling plans for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
- Partner with local manufacturing sites to resolve product non-conformances and resolve customer complaints.
- Analyze data using statistical tools to identify trends or areas for improvement in quality and food/feed safety.
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance conformance to product specification (increasing customer satisfaction) while maintaining operational efficiencies.
- Define leading and lagging performance metrics tracking these metrics and assessing the effectiveness of improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure quality and food/feed safety standards are integrated into all aspects of production and that manufacturing sites’ processes can meet customer expectations.
- Provide manufacturing sites and regional cross-functional partners support in determining the food/feed safety, and quality standards for processing equipment, laboratory, and testing equipment.
- Provide support in the development, verification, and validation of test methods and acceptance criteria for new methods and analytical equipment.
- Provide technical support related to the manufacturing process and assist the manufacturing sites in root cause investigations.
- Assist the regional food safety and compliance manager with specification management and vendor selection.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree within Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or similar
- Food or Feed Safety and Quality or another relevant focus
- Demonstrated analytical and risk assessment skills.
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual – Human Food or Animal Feed
- Food Safety and Quality in manufacturing setting experience 2-5 years
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Power BI, Minitab
Preferred Skills
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Statistical Process Control
- Root Cause Analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA, etc.)
- Project Management
