A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Senior Quality Engineer at Ophir Photonics, you will play a critical role in partnering with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Customers to support the business. In this position, you will contribute to qualifying new products, analyzing technical and business data, driving continuous improvement of existing products and processes, and collaborating with our global team to maintain and enhance product quality.

In this role, you will report directly to the Senior QA Manager and have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our mission of delivering high-quality products and processes on a global scale.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Utilizing various tools such as quality plans, process flows, FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis), and DOE (design of experiments) for the development of new products. 
  • Analyzing customer returns and failure rates data in depth and provide trending analysis.
  • Overseeing the establishment of appropriate quality controls and lead the investigation and resolution of customer issues.
  • Updating Quality Metrics and review repair data for accuracy, determine root cause and CAPA (corrective and preventive actions) with a focus on systemic improvements.  You will accomplish this by collaborating with Operations and Engineering, as needed, to determine the root cause of both field and in-process manufacturing failures.
  • Leading QIT (Quality Improvement Team) for new products and drive quality initiatives.
  • Monitoring the labs calibration equipment & on-time calibration performance metrics.  
  • Managing the sites QMS activities including CAPA, Failure Investigation, Non-Conformance assessment, audit findings, issue reviews, document control, change controls, configuration management, Management Reviews etc.  Provide direction on any nonconformance, deviation, or excursion that may occur and drive to closure. 
  • Leading internal audits for both ISO-9001:2015 & ISO/IEC-17025-2017 standards & support external audits with 3rd party registrars for both ISO-9001 & IEC-17025-2017. 
  • Providing MRB (Material Review Board) support including Supplier Corrective Action Requests and Non-Conformances.
  • Facilitating annual quality training for calibration lab personnel. 
  • Driving calibration test & process improvements in support of the site operations KPI's.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of product development and product lifecycles, lean manufacturing (e.g. Value Stream Mapping), automated tests, statistical process control, and 8D problem-solving methods and other quality tools.
  • Highly experienced with advanced data analysis and graphical data presentation
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Exceptional written & oral communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • BSc in Optics, Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Material Science Engineering.
  • CQE diploma
  • Have exposure to laser technology and semi-conductor business.
  • A solid working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 17025 quality management systems.
  • English skills are highly preferred
  • BI skills and SAP (ERP system) an advantage
  • Prior experience in the quality engineering department of a large semiconductor, semiconductor equipment, medical device, or laser manufacturing company is highly preferred.
