**Please note this opening is a 1st Shift role and the hours are Monday through Friday from 5:00am to 2:00pm w/occasional Saturdays as needed** 

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of employees in the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Department on their respective shift and work with Quality Assurance Manager in motivating and developing employees. The incumbent will perform quality assurance and food safety inspections of raw materials and products throughout processing, as well as finished product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and lead a team of QA Technologists and Technicians on the assigned shift as they perform their functions 
  • Monitor all HACCP requirements and regulations.
  • Document critical control points within processing operations.
  • Monitor quality control of products and processing lines.
  • Communicate with the manufacturing staff on a regular basis to ensure product quality.
  • Monitor warehouse storage conditions and employee practices.
  • Create work schedules for QA Technologists on the assigned shift.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve quality assurance and food safety related issues.
  • Work with QA Manager in implementing programs and on assigned projects.
  • Participate in Food Safety systems assessments and re-assessments.
  • Participate in organization and performance of daily product cuttings.
  • Work hand in hand with Production leadership in monitoring processes and products.
  • Work on cross-functional projects related to quality and compliance of new and existing products - with R&D, marketing, sales, maintenance, and Operations as needed.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement team(s) and help come up with ways to improve current processes as part of driving the department and the business forward to meet its goals.
  • Provide timely and frequent feedback and coaching to QA Technologists and Technicians on their shift.
  • Perform quarterly and annual performance reviews for QA technologists and technicians on their shift.
  • Collaborate with USDA and FDA regulators on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate Leadership & HPT behaviors.
  • Participate in training employees in accordance with our training program on GMPs, HACCP and SQF.
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or related field, or at least 3-5 years' experience in the quality assurance field required.
  • Some food industry knowledge required; meat industry preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work different shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills required

  • The noise level in the office environment is typically moderate.
