Job Description
TESP (Teledyne Electronic Safety Products) designs, develops, qualifies, and manufactures a variety of small, highly reliable products, which in many cases are intended to operate explosive devices such as EEDs (Electro-Explosive Devices), EBWs (Exploding Bridge Wires), EFIs (Exploding Foil Initiators), ESADs (Electronics Safety and Arm devices) and other similar devices. Product applications include Aircrew Safety, Launch and Tactical Vehicles, and Energetic Devices.
The Electronic System Design Engineer designs, develops, implements, tests, and debugs electronic systems for time critical aerospace applications. Engages and works closely with customers and internal resources to understand and document system requirements and design and develop robust solutions.
Summary
Quality Manager/Supervisor oversees all quality related activities at Teledyne Electronic Safety Products and reports directly to site leadership. The following are core responsibilities for the role:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Acts as a Quality Management representative for the site QMS under AS9100D certification

Consistent, effective execution and follow through on internal quality system audits and appropriate preparation, communication, and coordination on external audits, whether customer or 3rd party.

Serves as the primary quality assurance resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
-
Instructs quality assurance personnel on quality control and analytical procedures.
-
Timely, thorough review and action on reported non-conformances, whether from customers, the factory, or suppliers.
-
Performs root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities regarding nonconformance of products and processes to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.

Ensures calibration is consistently maintained as required, and properly contains situations where equipment used for acceptance are found to be out of calibration.

Communicates quality issues, trends and losses to all relevant organizational departments.

Reviews and plans how to meet customer requirements, whether related to new orders for new product, new orders for existing product or changes to existing orders.

Oversees that inspection activities are performed in a timely, thorough manner:
-
Inspection of materials and documentation received from suppliers, working with appropriate internal contacts to resolve discrepancies (receiving inspection).

Inspection of materials and documentation from the manufacturing floor (in-process & final inspection).

Provides accurate and complete documentation to customers in a timely manner (cert packages, FAIs, packing slips)

Generates accurate and complete non-conformance documentation and supports in the timely dispositioning/processing of non-conforming material.

Establishes operational objectives and directs subordinates to achieve assignments by providing leadership, assigning tasks, and checking work at appropriate intervals to determine status of assigned projects and ensure goals are met within organization goals of budget, time requirements and high level of quality.

Identifies obstacles to achieving business goals and provides solutions or seeks out appropriate assistance.

Ensures the working environment is clean, organized and safe for employees at all times.

Understands and ensures staff complies with all safety and environmental policies and practices.

Works to avoid erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results that may cause scrap, rework, use of excessive overtime, and/or delays in schedules.

Interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers, suppliers and functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to inspire and gain cooperation of others.

Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job provides leadership and management to functional area(s) which may include supervision of supervisors, and of other exempt and non-exempt personnel.

Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; promotes and measures employee development through regular performance appraisals, mentoring activities and applicable training; efficiently and effectively manages HR type responsibilities for the team, which may include conflict resolution, time-off requests, disciplinary measures, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of AS9100D requirements and experience with surveillance audits/recertification
-
Demonstrated knowledge of IPC-A-610, Class 3 requirements and experience determining acceptable, process indicator, and defect conditions.

Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory/management experience.
Other Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen/5 Why/8D/Fishbone

Knowledge of specific software (Excel – pivot tables/charts, XA/ERP)

Salary Range:
$93,500.00-$125,950.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
