The Role

Job Summary
As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our payroll, payroll tax, and compliance software. You will manage multiple product initiatives and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software developers, product managers, and other QA engineers, to design,
execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies to maintain the quality and reliability of the company’s software products.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. A solid foundation in both manual and automated testing of SaaS-based applications is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and functional testing of SaaS-based applications to ensure product quality.
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product requirements.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using defect tracking tools.
  • Collaborate with development and product management teams to understand requirements and provide feedback on design and implementation.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive QA strategies, processes, and standards.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure that new features and bug fixes do not negatively impact existing functionality.
  • Participate in test case reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve test coverage and effectiveness.
  • Communicate test results and findings clearly and effectively to team members and stakeholders.
  • Support the continuous improvement of QA processes and practices within the team.
  • Utilize Jira or Azure DevOps to write user stories and track testing activities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and QA processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in QA and testing.


Qualifications

  • Required minimum of 3 years of experience within the HCM or related industries.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.
  • Expert with payroll taxes, submissions, calculations, and applications such as Vertex and Mastertax.
  • Proficient with certified payrolls, unions, FLSA, EEO, ACA.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability and critical thinking.
  • Automated testing using Cypress or Selenium is a plus.
  • Experience in TestRail is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills using Office 365 tools such as Outlook and Teams.
  • Strong team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Possesses solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Possesses a strong desire to learn current software development best practices (Agile), and in particular, the software testing discipline, in applying deep domain experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • PC savvy, from an end-user perspective. Highly comfortable using browser-based software applications and office application suites.
  • Proven ability to manage defect tracking and resolution processes efficiently.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with development, product management, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for keeping stakeholders informed of QA progress and issues.
