THE ROLE:
Nordic Consulting Partners, Inc., headquartered in Madison, WI, has an opening available for a Quality Assurance Engineer. Residence & remote work permitted from anywhere in U.S., travel less than 5% domestically for staff/project meetings.
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality of software products that are developed and released through exploratory and automated tests. They also work to ensure that software products meet established quality standards and compliance requirements. In addition to testing, the Quality Assurance Engineer may also be involved in code reviews, performance testing, and documentation review to ensure that software products meet quality and usability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Know the product vision and work closely with the designers and the Product Owner to translate their vision into tests;
- Help the Scrum master and Product Owner to prioritize defects;
- Design and implement tests, debugging, and defining corrective actions for software;
- Review system requirements and tracking quality assurance metrics;
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide feedback regarding quality;
- Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases;
- Partner with development teams to identify key areas of risk in new solutions;
- Document software defects using bug tracking systems to report defects to software developers;
- Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability;
- Install, maintain, and use software testing programs with continuous improvement mindset;
- Develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness;
- Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problem;
- Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies as needed to provide clarifications and problem solve with the team;
- Work with engineers to run tests in production environments after deployment to ensure quality; and
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and standards on testing.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field (foreign equivalent degree accepted).
- 2 years of experience in any occupation in which experience can be gained.
- 2 years of experience in each of the following:
- As an exploratory / hands-on tester with multiple platforms and testing techniques;
- With automated and manual testing at the story level i.e. Agile testing;
- Exploratory testing;
- End to End test implementation and automation;
- Using Frameworks/Tools BDD, Selenium, SQL AND JMeter;
- Integration, Performance and Load testing;
- With Visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI; and
- In the Healthcare industry using EDI files i.e. 835 and 837i.
