Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Patient Support Access Specialist to join our team at the CT/Vascular Surgery office!

This is a Full Time, benefits eligible position

Position Summary:

Responsible for the patient experience as it relates to the administrative process, from start to finish. Point of contact for internal team members, external vendors/organizations, and patients. This position will play a key role in streamlining workflow to ensure efficient scheduling for:

  • Consultations

  • Testing

  • Procedures

  • Follow-up appointments

Ensures excellent patient experience, maximize reimbursement, minimize time from referral to procedure, and aid in positive outcomes.

Education and Experience: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience, including knowledge of scheduling, registration, patient billing, and medical terminology required.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as surgery scheduler preferred.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with data entry/keyboarding.

Essential Duties:

  • Supports the patient and clinical team from all aspects of the administrative duties of a patient’s appointments.

  • Accountable for scheduling and ensuring necessary paperwork is completed in accordance to the needs of the team.

  • Maintains effective working relations with departments to ensure timely scheduling of testing and procedures.

  • Processes prior authorizations for procedures and any testing that requires authorization.

  • Responsible for claim reconciliation if prompted by the revenue integrity team.

  • Performs clerical duties such as answering and directing phone calls, monitoring incoming mail, and replying to emails.
