American Graduate: Jobs Explained is a groundbreaking social media content initiative powered by public media’s unique local-to-national infrastructure. Our goal is to provide high school students and early job seekers with tools and resources to explore well-paying, in-demand careers across industries through social media content. We also aim to support public media stations around the country engage their own youth and business communities and transform their social video capacities.
Over the past two years, Jobs Explained has achieved remarkable success, amassing over 12.2 million views across TikTok and Instagram. By creating relevant, engaging, and educational content tailored to Gen Z, we’ve built a strong foundation for helping young people explore career pathways.
We are now seeking a Project Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our continued development of this project. This role will focus on key administrative milestones and processes for the Jobs Explained team at WNET including but not limited to station communications, contracting, consultant management, budget tracking, grant report drafting, and internal scheduling. The Project Specialist will manage administrative tasks and support project management associated with the day-to-day execution of the project and support the Project Director in coordinating efforts across multiple departments at WNET, including the Community Engagement, Legal, Development, and Audience Engagement. Working closely with the Project Director, the Project Specialist will focus on scheduling, contracts, payments, meeting planning, internal and external logistics, and other administrative tasks associated with the project.
Responsibilities:

Support for the Project Director in serving as the liaison between the project and non-production areas (such as publicity, outreach, web, distribution and fundraising);

Management of contracts and payments for advisors (if applicable), research and evaluation firm, and other project vendors, as needed;

General administrative tasks such as scheduling, invoicing, bill payment, synthesizing data for reports, etc.;

Collaboration with Project Director and all internal departments to meet deliverables, benchmarks, and content goals;

Preparation and presentation of project materials in webinars, professional development sessions and meetings;

In partnership with Project Director and project staff, development of comprehensive vision, strategy, and proposal for future phases of the initiative;

Oversight of grant report preparations, including internal departments and partner stations;

Other relevant duties, as assigned.
Qualified candidates will possess superior organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills as well as strong planning, adaptive and problem-solving skills. Additional qualifications include:

Minimum 3 years’ experience as an administrative or executive assistant, program coordinator or project assistant in a commercial or non-profit environment;

Ability to work with individuals at all levels within the organization in a professional manner;

Ability to handle multiple deliverables simultaneously and work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment.

The WNET Group offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $73,000.00. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
