Job Description Summary

A Project Manager/Assistant Manager MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) supports the management of MEP systems within construction or building projects. Key responsibilities include coordinating MEP activities, ensuring system installations meet specifications, managing subcontractors, and overseeing compliance with safety and quality standards. They assist in project planning, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring timely completion of MEP components. Strong technical knowledge, organizational, and communication skills are crucial for this role.

Job Description

1.    Project Planning & Coordination:
o    Lead the planning and execution of electrical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
o    Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and contractors to align on project requirements and timelines.
o    Review electrical design drawings, specifications, and ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
o    Ensure all electrical installations meet the required quality and technical standards.
2.    Execution & Site Supervision:
o    Supervise and monitor electrical installations on-site, ensuring proper installation and compliance with design specifications.
o    Review and approve contractor shop drawings and material submittals related to electrical works.
o    Manage testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems (e.g., lighting, power distribution, generators, etc.).
o    Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements for electrical systems.
3.    Vendor & Material Management:
o    Collaborate with procurement teams to select vendors and ensure the timely supply of electrical materials and equipment.
o    Oversee the coordination of electrical material deliveries and resolve any supply chain issues affecting the project.
4.    Budget & Cost Control:
o    Monitor the electrical portion of project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and any deviations are managed.
o    Review electrical equipment specifications and cost estimates to ensure alignment with project budgets.
5.    Project Handover:
o    Ensure that electrical systems are handed over to the client with complete documentation, including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and test certificates.
o    Ensure all electrical systems are properly tested and commissioned, meeting all required safety and operational standards.
6.    Quality & Safety Assurance:
o    Maintain strict quality control procedures to ensure all electrical work adheres to established safety and quality standards.
o    Regularly conduct site inspections and safety audits to identify and resolve potential risks or non-compliance issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
•    Supervise and coordinate the work of electrical contractors, ensuring the timely and efficient execution of tasks.
•    Provide guidance to electrical engineers, technicians, and site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless project progress.
•    Oversee team collaboration and ensure that all activities are aligned with project schedules.

Skills & Qualifications:
•    Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, BIS, etc.).
•    Proven experience in managing electrical projects, from design to commissioning.
•    Proficiency with electrical design and project management software.
•    Ability to communicate complex technical information to stakeholders at all levels.
•    Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on quality and safety.

Financial & Analytical Skills:
•    Ability to manage project budgets and track expenses related to electrical works.
•    Proficient in calculating cost estimates, project timelines, and resource allocation.

Additional Skills:
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
•    Strong organizational and time-management skills.
•    Ability to lead a team effectively and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, consultants, and contractors.
•    Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Project (MSP). Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
•    Language Skills: Familiarity with Tamil and Malayalam (preferred). Experience working in Tamil Nadu or Kerala is an added advantage.
•    Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and interact with all stakeholders.
•    Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
•    Financial Understanding: Basic knowledge of financial principles, including budget management and cost estimation.
