KBR was selected to support the US Space Force/Air Force Research Laboratory’s ASTRO (Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization) contract to provide mission equipment operations, maintenance, and upgrades to the USSF’s AMOS site in Maui, Hawaii. The AMOS site plays a vital role in national security by monitoring man-made objects in space and continuously developing next-generation capabilities to keep pace with the expanding space domain. This presents an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of space and telescope technologies.

KBR’s team in Maui, HI is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Project Manager to support maintenance and repair of mission equipment to support operations for the United States Space Force at their AMOS Site. This is a senior-level project manager position, with growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

This includes performing and scheduling routine and emergency maintenance/repairs, equipment inventory, personnel scheduling to support 24/7 site operations, managing progress against deadlines, resolving issues, managing budgets/cost, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, and maintaining a high level of mission readiness and minimum operations downtime due to equipment. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring subordinate staff and assisting the Government in identifying new opportunities to improve the AMOS site’s mission readiness. This project manager is a disciplined self-starter with strong organizational, time management, comprehension, and communication skills.

Coordinates with Task Order Leads in resolving issues and resource contentions between Task Orders. Knowledge of and able to independently perform the conventional aspects of project management. Assists the Task Order Leads with the coordination efforts and maintain effective working relationships with Government Customer Leadership and technical leads. Serves as primary interface to Government and their Stakeholders as required. Coordinates and maintains effective working relationships with Government Customer counterparts and technical/programmatic leads.

· Apply project management concepts and principles, including systems engineering, task planning, resource loaded integrated master schedules, budget planning and reporting for Task Order

· Meet or exceed contract requirements for cost/schedule/technical performance

· Interface with Government customer and KBR staff to proactively identify and resolve complex technical issues and resource deconfliction to meet performance, cost, and schedule goals

· Manage project operations to ensure site operations schedules are met, system resources are utilized effectively, and that proper relationships are established between customers.

· Responsible for cost, schedule, performance and risk identification / mitigation on maintenance and repair projects including but not limited to systems, sensors, tools, equipment, telescopes, software, IT equipment and other activities

· Develops proposed efforts to improve site mission readiness through predictive maintenance and/or improvements in procedures, equipment, or staffing

Work Environment:

  • Location: Full time in office. Work locations are Kihei, HI and at remote site on Haleakala.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
  • Working Hours: Standard 40 hours/week

Required Qualifications: 

  • Active TS/SCI
  • · Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electro-Optics, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • · Minimum of ten (10) years experience in managing mid-size technical groups. minimum of five (5) years direct experience in Project Engineer/Project Management.
  • · Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • · Experience with the creation of work breakdown structures, schedule development and schedule maintenance, budget development and budget forecasting, and risk management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and working with Integrated Master Schedules
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering and/or Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • PMP certification
  • Masters degree in a STEM discipline

Basic Compensation: 

$160- 205k

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity. 

Additional Compensation: 

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
