Who We Need on Our Team
The Project Manager plays a key role working within a small, collaborative and agile development team building the Customer API Program. The project manager will take on a dual role, as a scrum master for the API team and as a project manager for the larger API Program and work collaboratively with Product Manager and leadership,
The project manager will communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders throughout the PI (Program Increment), maintain and execute the PI Plan, and help raise awareness and mitigate risks.
The project manager will facilitate day-to-day activities of the API Team and Customer API Program for the duration of the Program Increment.
The API Team is focused on building a customer facing API platform and implementing APIOPs, the process around developing and deploying APIs at scale. The Customer API Program is still in development and will be focused on implementing APIs at scale for customer facing IS teams at Expeditors. The project manager will be involved in helping establish the Customer API Program and helping to run the activities of the program as it becomes self-sufficient.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Enable agile, SAFe and scrum principles at the team level.
- Enable and drive cross-team coordination, risk management, dependencies and execution at a program level.
- Facilitate SAFe ceremonies.
- Execute the API Program plan.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a project manager that knows how to navigate the SAFe context and is comfortable with agile principles and acting as a project manager.
The project manager will be spending roughly 40% of their time in a team level scrum master setting, helping lead the API team in scrum ceremonies, adhering to agile principles and providing team level leadership.
The other 60% of the project manager's time will be focused on working with API Product Management to execute on the API Program vision, coordinating and leading workshops and driving cross-portfolio alignment. As the project manager for the API Program, you will be responsible for execution of the API Program vision and will be working closely with Product Management.
Scrum Master Responsibilities (40%)
- Enable agile, SAFe, and Scrum principles at the team level.
- Facilitate key Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Retrospectives).
- Act as a servant leader, helping the team remove impediments and continuously improve.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that embraces Agile best practices.
- Track and report team metrics to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.
API Program Management Responsibilities (60%)
- Execute the API Program vision, working closely with API Product Management.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration, aligning multiple teams and portfolios.
- Drive API adoption by coordinating workshops, roadmap planning, and scaling efforts.
- Identify risks and dependencies and work proactively to mitigate them.
- Provide organization and clarity around complex initiatives, ensuring timely execution.
This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in related field (project management, software development, etc)
- 5+ years of experience as project manager or scrum master
- 2+ years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience as a Scrum Master with scrum/agile and kanban methodologies
- Strong communication and execution capabilities
- Assertive personality, interpersonal, action and outcome driven mentality
- Well-organized with keen attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organization skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAFe Certification (Scrum Master, SAFe Program Consultant)
- Experience with API lifecycle management, API development, API governance framework.
- Experience with large-scale Agile initiatives and Lean Portfolio Management
- Experience with workshop facilitation (e.g, Design Thinking, Liberating Structures)
- Proficient with ADO (Azure DevOps)
- Demonstrated experience as a project manager on technical projects in the software or IT industries
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- Ability to successfully navigate and execute within ambiguous and stressful situations
- Skilled problem solver, strong collaborator, and able to provide organization and clarity around complex topics

Additional Information
Expected base salary: $90,000 to $140,000
