What will you do as a Project Engineer?

As a Project Engineer in GBD Technology & Engineering, you will be responsible for accelerating New Energies and LNG project development in the BU’s.

What do we expect from you as a Project Engineer?

• Master degree in Engineering

• Familiar with project management methodologies like Vopak Project Management (VPM)

• Ambition to develop into Project Management, with willingness to be deployed as soon as possible into a project in Definition or Execution phase

• Fluent in English both in verbal and written

• Customer orientation, quality orientation, result orientation

Your core responsibilities are:

1. Accelerate New Energies and LNG project development in the BU’s as per Projects way of working in Vopak

• Support the technical work stream of New Energies projects and LNG projects in Identification and Selection phase

• Provide up-to-date technology and project expertise in the 5 product groups of New Energies: green NH3, CO2, LOHC/LH2, Sustainable products and Flow Batteries

• Provide up-to-date technology and project expertise regarding land-based and floating LNG solutions

• Connecting and integrating Global functions into the project development

2. Deliver qualitative ID and SEL designs and cost estimates

• Flow modeling, conceptual engineering and cost estimating, using Vopak’s engineering toolbox and Repeatable Formula

• Upfront agreement with BU’s on scope, budget and delivery schedule via signed SLA’s

• Identify potential risks and challenges in engineering projects and implement mitigation plans

3.  Develop and continuously improve GTE processes and tooling 

• Develop RF content for LNG and New Energies; develop new toolboxes when new RF areas become available 

• Continue to review and improve our existing processes, particularly toolbox usability and accuracy, based on the continuous program of improvements and benchmarking

• Focus on collecting feedback from stakeholders (particularly BU Business Developers and Project Managers/Directors) to ensure we are meeting requirements and where further improvements and tools are required

• Collect operational and maintenance requirements in new build knowledge bases (Repeatable Formula) from Assets management (Technical Standards and Specifications)

• Ensure that feedback information from completed and operational projects is incorporated into design process

• Automate deliverable production where appropriate

4. Technical consultancy to grow terminals and to facilitate M&A due diligence:

• Provide technical expertise to BU’s

• Provide shareholder's technology & engineering consultancy where necessary

• Critically review terminal growth IP's

• Lead the engineering aspects of JV projects, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and alignment of goals between all parties involved. Drive collaboration and synergy to maximize the success of the project

5. Technology Maturity Assessment

• Review technology claims of emerging technologies in GBD product groups

• Review technology claims of potential new ventures (Vopak Ventures)

• Monitor and track emerging new energy technologies, developing appropriate design tools and methodologies to support business needs based on technology readiness levels

6. Participate in the Engineering & Construction of projects in Definition and Execution phase

• Participate in the technical workstream of the project's Definition, Execution and Commissioning stage

• Ensure qualitative contracting of E, P and C contracts to service all project requirements

• Ensure effective contract management of E, P and C contracts within the agreed scope, schedule and cost

• Guarantee safe execution of construction activities
