The School of Engineering is a unique place, which emphasizes the power of interdisciplinary thought and recognizes that engineering is intertwined with every aspects of our lives.  Under the leadership of Dean Tejal Desai, we are seeking a Project Director.

The NSF I-Corps Program is aimed at increasing and accelerating the transformation of new discoveries arising from fundamental research into innovations with societal impact. The New England Hub has a critical role in enabling and leading the research community to realize this vision with a strategic approach that expands the translation of research from the lab to the marketplace and includes the training of graduate students and researchers in deep-tech entrepreneurship.

The project director is the primary person responsible to the sponsors for the strategic management and activities of the Brown I-Corps project.  The Project Director for the Brown Hub Partner project will be the primary point of contact between MIT, the Brown PI and faculty lead, Brown faculty and researchers, and the support staff. They will manage and coordinate all activities of the Brown Hub, including supporting the regional training workshops, supporting the I-Corps teams, building and maintaining the mentor network, collecting evaluation material, and promoting the Hub.

This is a part-time, fixed-term position at 50% effort, with an end date of December 31, 2029.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant work experience, including project management. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in university research project management and/or technology entrepreneurship, preferred.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment while maintaining careful attention to detail.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents, both internal and external, emphasizing tact and diplomacy.

Ability to maintain confidence and discretion in sensitive financial and personnel matters related to laboratory activities.

All positions require demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other Brown and community stakeholders with diverse perspectives and demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive environment.

Ability to work and interact with various levels of personnel and communicate effectively, independently, and in a team environment.

Knowledge of compliance issues related to federal research contracts and grants preferred.

Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Excellent skills and experience with various computer software including web tools, HTML, internet search engines, and MS/Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
