We are growing and seeking a Project Accountant with experience working in the Government Contracting industry. You will be responsible for Project Administration, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Recognition, General Ledger and the Month-end close process. You will collaborate with Contracts, Project Finance and the Project Manager for the entirety of the project life cycle.
This is a hybrid position working mostly remote but going into our Arlington, VA headquarters as needed for meetings.
What you will do:
Project Administration:
- Evaluate new contracts, purchase orders, and agreements
- Determine appropriate project setup and revenue recognition methodology based on the contract
- Setup new billable projects and tasks in Unanet
- Evaluate and enter contract modifications
- Maintain project data
- Track prime and subcontract status; determine the final end customer
- Determine whether sales tax exemptions are required
- Support Government Contracting compliance and audits
- Managing task tickets assigned through Jira ticketing system
- Assist with timesheet and non-labor adjustments requests related to direct projects
- Assist with extended hours requests and enforcing company policies related to extended hours on direct billable projects
Billing/Revenue Recognition/Accounts Receivable:
- Setup revenue recognition and maintain support schedules
- Create customer invoices and monitor payments
- Manage the AR aging to ensure that there are no long-outstanding invoices
- Send collection notices and collaborate with Project Finance and the PM with collection efforts as needed
General Ledger/Month-end close process:
- Preparation of journal entries, accruals
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of Accounting experience
- 2+ years working knowledge of Government Contracting Accounting Software - Unanet strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills and responsiveness working with internal and external customers in a remote environment
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office with high proficiency in Excel

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$55,200—$118,400 USD
