Summary:
Support IT project activities pertaining to requirements, design, development, implementation, and administration of application product and services. The AS400 Programmer/Analyst will provide support to the COBOL-based manufacturing system in the way of projects and maintenance activities. Become knowledgeable of the business processes within their area of responsibility and confidently facilitate business requirements sessions. Translate the business requirements into functional/design and successfully develop and test solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply high-level understanding of the organization’s business systems and industry requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between the business and IT to create and document solution designs, focusing on process analysis and re-engineering with an understanding of technical problems and solutions related to current and future business environments.
- Assist with daily operations and provide general administrative support to the assigned IT organization.
- Work with business and implementation team to create functional and technical design documents.
- Design and develop batch and interactive applications to meet business team requirements.
- Design and develop interfaces and other third-party integrations.
- Design and develop conversions to migrate legacy data into other systems.
- Participate in technical design meetings.
- Ensure quality of development deliverables by applying proven testing methodologies
- Problem solving and issue resolution.
- Maintain well documented procedural instructions to hand-off to business team.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years with developing applications COBOL language
- Proven track record of success with IT in a manufacturing and distribution environment for multiple sites, multiple business units and specifically in areas including:
- Manufacturing
- Product Costing
- Shipping
- Purchasing
- Expert-level skill in debugging batch and interactive applications
- Strong organizational skills capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking
- Functional business knowledge to support production issue resolutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in information technologies, related degree, or equivalent experience.
Additional Non-Essential Qualifications
- SQL experience
- Experience with DSI
- Experience with Label Design software
- Work experience on AS400 Stored Procedures and DDMF
- NGSIQ query reporting tools
- Understanding of PLC Transaction Manager
- Basic knowledge of JD Edwards ERP

Essential duties:
- Demonstrate ability to work in a project-oriented environment and provide work effort estimates to the IT Manager for analytical tasks including providing timely updates to the IT Manager regarding status on assigned tasks.
- Ensure current and accurate system documentation, coordinate and/or perform testing of system modifications, and develop, provide, or coordinate system training, educational tools and materials; may be involved with the IT Manager regarding planning/scheduling and sources allocation.
- Build effective relationships with business staff to develop a cooperative and cohesive support process.
- Provide continued manufacturing system support to the business community resolving production related issues.
