• Ensuring that engineering department goals, metrics and objectives are met
• Establish and audit standardized tools and templates to use when leading cross functional team meetings
• Create and manage schedules based on approved project scope
• Control project scope and delivery variance
• End-to-end project management for both software and hardware based projects up to and including building products in a factory
• Help drive the sharing of best practices across the project management team
• Managing internal and external resources
• Communication with senior management as well as with the team
• Continuously evaluate the new product design, development, and release processes and suggest improvements to reduce product cycle times
• Create project plans including schedule creation, gathering development cost estimates, and target cost information
• Identify risks in the project schedules and assist in the creation of mitigation plans
• Ensure that the VPD DPT corporate project tracking tool is kept up to date
• Manage the gaps between functions to guide projects though the phase gated development process up to and including the launch to Sales
• Some travel may be required
• Minimum Bachelors in Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ yrs of Project Management experience in an engineering or new product development environment
• 3+ yrs of experience presenting to Senior Management
• Experience with waterfall, iterative and agile design methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
• PMP or equivalent certification preferred
• Experience working with diverse teams in multiple sites
• Expertise in Project Management Methodologies
• Understanding of CMM or CMMi best practices
• Excellent leadership skills
• Detail oriented with good time management and multitasking skills
• Excellent people skills including coaching and mentoring
• Excellent interpersonal skills required to negotiate priority with those that do not report to them
• Excellent written and oral communication skills both up and down the organizational chain
• Must be a self-starter, achieving great results with minimum supervision
• Must have a history of taking on and meeting challenging objectives
• Experienced with standard project management tools such as Microsoft Project
• Prior Experience of successfully managing New Product Development projects in the role of project manager
• Technical background with an understanding of what it takes to complete embedded system designs
