The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $145,260 to $181,575
Location Note: Job is based in Orange, CT but can be mostly remote due to 40% - 50% travel requirement
Job Description
The Manager of Markets and Regulatory Affairs will lead the development and advocacy of market and regulatory policy for Avangrid Renewables, focusing on wholesale power markets and state regulatory agencies across the eastern and midwestern United States. Acting as Avangrid’s representative, this position will shape policies that drive commercial opportunities while gathering, analyzing, and sharing critical market intelligence with internal teams. The successful candidate will actively engage in RTO/ISO stakeholder communities, state regulatory matters, and FERC proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and sustain relationships with RTO/ISO leadership and staff, federal and state regulators, trade associations, fellow market participants, and other key stakeholders.
- Leverage relationships to advocate for market and regulatory rules and policies that align with Avangrid’s commercial interests.
- Lead the development of public filings and advocacy efforts, coordinating with trade associations to support Avangrid’s regulatory objectives.
- Monitor trends in regulatory, commercial, and public policy, translating insights into potential risks and opportunities for Avangrid leadership.
- Initiate and drive policy campaigns to strengthen Avangrid’s position in the market.
- Serve as a conduit for information between external stakeholders and internal business units to align Avangrid’s tactical and strategic development directions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or related field.
- 8 years of professional experience in the energy, utility, or environmental industry with a focus on public policy development and/or implementation (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Experience with RTO/ISO stakeholder processes.
- Expert level of written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex regulatory and market issues concisely.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
- Natural curiosity for learning new concepts and perspectives.
- Demonstrated initiative in developing and advocating policy positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in engineering, law, or business.
