General Description:

Production Planning and Control is a key function to VSL fabrication operations. PP&C plans when, how much, where and in what order parts are produced. To improve VSL’s production chain, PP&C intelligently flows raw and piece parts to the production line while managing stock accurately. Using data-based decision making, PP&C interacts closely with other VSL departments, such as engineering and program management to prioritize production. As part of VSL’s AS9100 quality management system, PP&C proactively reduces damage and loss through rigorous processes to deliver quality products on time, and to maintain customer satisfaction.  


Essential Duties:

Creating forecasts for material requirements, based on firm or planned demand

Cross referencing master schedules for demonstration, development and delivery programs

Strategic planning for materials and goods, for example planning for logistics of goods shipping and the receipt of incoming materials

Production planning by collaborating closely with process engineers and material expeditors in accordance with VSL’s master production plan

Detailing production scheduling by defining sequence of activities, like opening new manufacturing orders and the timely release to fabrication operations

Monitoring PP&C metrics and identifying areas for improvement

On the job training for AS9100D and CostPoint ERP


Required Skills:

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment (preferably aerospace)

Related experience in material handling, control systems and Enterprise Resource Systems, preferably Costpoint

Experience in lean manufacturing

Knowledge of production processes and quality control

Math and analytical skills

Technical skills using material requirements planning and scheduling software

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees

Organizational and time-management skills

Demonstrated experience in using MS Office suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Ability to interface and influence at all levels of a program and organization

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment

Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct, and performs work cognizant of safe work practices 


Required Education:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $99,705 - $124,683 + bonus + benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
