Job Description:

The objective of this position is to deliver year-over-year profit improvement (YOYI) from Schreiber’s assigned product categories.  The individual in this position will assume strategic leadership for their category.  This position requires a high level of teamwork and cross-functional interaction.  Significant interaction is required with Sales, R&D, Engineering, Finance, Creative Services, Operations, and outside resources including marketing research suppliers, and agencies.  Key deliverables include developing Marketing Strategy Plans and Tactics that drive new Products, Packaging, Promotional Programs and Profitability targets for each Product line.  Individuals in this role will become consumer experts within their categories, and will develop an excellent grasp of the competitive environment. This individual will bring Marketing disciplines to this role and put them into play within our customer brand and control brand environments. The success of this position will be measured by variable income for their category.

What you’ll Do:

Lead the strategic planning process and execution of the plan:

  • Create strategic plans intended to drive growth through delivered profit targets. 
  • This is done with consumer trends in mind, with an awareness of competitor activity, and with a knowledge of Schreiber capabilities and competencies.
  • Oversee successful execution of plans.
  • Identify incremental opportunities to increase volume and profit (e.g., cost savings, new distribution, sku rationalization, etc.).

Execute key tactics:

  • Launch new products per the plan by leading cross-functional teams toward stated objectives.
  • Evaluate packaging opportunities, identifying potential improvements (package sizes, single serve, environmentally friendly, convenience features, etc.) and leading the process of change.
  • Establish target “pricing ranges” by product.  Pricing requests by sales partners outside of these ranges will require sales management and marketing approval.
  • SKU rationalization as necessary to improve VI.
  • Work with sales to develop key customer presentations and support materials.
  • Lead any necessary re-design initiatives with internal and/or external creative resources.
  • Work effectively within the marketing team to aid in the success of brands and segments outside “line of sight” responsibilities.

Leverage consumer insights:

  • Utilize syndicated data to identify emerging consumer trends relative to products, sizes, flavors, etc.
  • Conduct custom primary research that is timely, relevant, and actionable.
  • Develop presentations and selling aids that equip our sales partner with powerful selling stories.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business with a marketing emphasis.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in marketing or general management in a consumer package good company.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Strong strategic abilities.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Financial and marketing acumen with the ability to deliver presentations to the highest levels of the company.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic plans within a complex environment.
  • Ability to interpret consumer research and apply learning to drive results.

Demonstrated leadership skills include ability to:

  • Influence middle/senior management through informal communication as well as structured presentations.
  • Work effectively at all levels and network across the organization to build relationships.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and develop project plans, including management of both internal and external resources (e.g. management consultants).

Demonstrated personal skills include:

  • Ability to influence and persuade senior leadership across the company on key strategic marketing topics.
  • Be a strong team player within the marketing team and across functional areas.
  • Be a strong communicator.
  • Be innovative, flexible and tenacious.
  • Have a strong results-orientation and be able to operate well without extensive supervision.
  • Excel at project planning and execution (define project, develop appropriate work plans, drive project to successful completion).
  • Attention to detail and strong sense of logic.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
