As part of JPMorgan Chase's Consumer and Community Banking division, API Marketplace creates business value by facilitating the connection of API supply with API demand. We do this by providing API engineers the tooling and capabilities they need to autonomously manage the software delivery lifecycle of their API products at each step in the process from definition to distribution. Consumer and Community Banking has embarked on an "API First" journey, and our team plays a critical role in making this journey possible for engineers across the organization.
As a Product Manager in API Marketplace, you are an integral part of the team that innovates new product offerings and leads the end-to-end product life cycle. As a core leader, you are responsible for acting as the voice of the customer and developing profitable products that provide customer value. Utilizing your deep understanding of how to get a product off the ground, you guide the successful launch of products, gather crucial feedback, and ensure top-tier client experiences. With a strong commitment to scalability, resiliency, and stability, you collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
Job responsibilities
- Serves as the "voice of the customer" to one or more product teams
- Understands and translates business requirements into epics that directly support the organization's initiatives
- Develops & leverages framework for comparing and prioritizing customer problems
- Collaborates with engineering, architecture, design, and stakeholders to create a product roadmap that reflects the outcomes and key results set by the business
- Develops a product strategy and product vision that delivers value to customers
- Manages discovery efforts and market research to uncover customer solutions and integrate them into the product roadmap
- Owns, maintains, and develops a product backlog that enables development to support the overall strategic roadmap and value proposition
- Builds the framework and tracks the product's key success metrics such as cost, feature and functionality, risk posture, and reliability
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
- Advanced knowledge of the product development life cycle, design, and data analytics
- Proven ability to lead product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management
- Demonstrates proficiency in written & verbal communication, specifically in translating technical API related concepts to a broad audience
- Demonstrates flexibility in communication style, adapting to different audiences and situations to ensure effective message delivery and understanding.
- Utilizes data-driven insights to support decision-making processes, ensuring that product strategies are grounded in evidence and aligned with business objectives
- Ability to collect feedback from customers and translate this feedback into actionable insights that inform strategic product decisions and roadmap development.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Demonstrated prior experience working in a highly matrixed, complex organization
- Experience delivering software on a large-scale distributed computing system.
- Experience developing/enhancing a platform capability that primarily serves software engineers
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using tools such as SQL, Excel, or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Skilled in both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to assess product performance.
