This Bioinformatics Product Specialist role provides an outstanding opportunity for a Bioinformatician with a curiosity about working in product support at a global level to deliver outstanding data analysis support for next-generation sequencing platforms. This role is uniquely positioned within the product management team and provides insight to the product roadmap.
In this role, you will work as a vital link between customers, field support teams, software product managers and internal bioinformatics development teams to resolve issues related to the usage of software products and interpretation of results.
If you have experience of working in the biotechnology industry in a technical or customer support role or have meaningful experience in academia, this is an excellent opportunity to build on your current abilities and learn about how genomics labs across the world analyze next-generation sequencing data.
A Day in the life

Work with our global field support colleagues to help our customers with their software and bioinformatics challenges, with an emphasis on gene panel sequencing. This may include troubleshooting, problem-solving, customizing analysis pipelines to resolve issues and present data in the best light

Act as a link between the field teams and internal development teams to identify and resolve advanced customer cases

Capture feedback from customers to help the product management team prioritize requirements for future hardware and software development

Build training materials and run training sessions for our field teams.

Develop a deep understanding of our software analysis pipelines, algorithms and system set up

Participate in reviewing pre-release software
Keys to Success
Education
-
BS required in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry, computer science or equivalent, Masters or PhD (preferred)
Experience
-
Minimum 3 years of confirmed experience in bioinformatics and data analysis. Practical experience with open-source bioinformatics tools and wide knowledge of genomics applications are especially useful

Previous experience in data analysis of next-generation sequencing data is required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Ability to present bioinformatics issues and solutions to audiences with varying levels of experience is critical.

Previous experience working with clinical NGS lab customers would be a distinct advantage.

Previous experience using Linux and writing scripts or other code would be an advantage

Looking for a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced interdisciplinary team
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $100,000.00–$133,000.00.
