The Role:
Entegris is seeking a Product Improvement Engineer. This role is responsible for integrating a wide range of engineering efforts to continuously improve the materials and processes used to create Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) polishing pads. In this role, you will work across internal business units including pad operation, pad engineering, material engineering, and customer facing teams to drive the customer issue resolution and product improvement projects. This engineering position is key to ensuring that our products deliver a consistent high level of performance to our customers.
What You’ll Do:

Focus on customer performance and quality requirements to understand their application and needs.

Collect product and process data across entire value stream and determine critical to performance metrics then develop.

Work with Entegris’ Customer Facing Teams to define the customer performance problem.
Analyze customer and internal data to identify root cause. -
Lead Production Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metrology and Quality System teams to address pad quality issues by implementing corrective and preventative actions.

Communicate with customers directly if required.

Review solution effectiveness and capture learnings.

Manage CIP (continuous improvement project) to improve final product quality through proactive and efficient responsiveness and troubleshooting related to pad performance issues.

Directly interface with technical representatives across the organization (R&D, Operations, Field, and Business teams) to assure that Entegris pad processes and products deliver their intended performance targets.

Identify process limitations and execute engineered solutions to address future technical challenges.

Provide technical support and project management for other duties as assigned.

Primary site location is Hillsboro OR, with a mix of working from home and from site available with management approval.

Domestic and global travels required as needed, estimate 10%.
What We Seek:
-
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering or related discipline.

3-5+ years of relevant related experience in a similar or related role.

Strong background and experience in process engineering, with demonstrated ability to analyze complex interactions between process inputs and their impact on process output to develop process control solutions.

Experience in leading engineering projects and cross-functional teams, with the ability to scope key deliverables and required resources to achieve customer driven timelines.

Demonstrated experience in the characterization of multi-mode or system level performance by breaking down the configuration and properties of individual materials and processing steps.

Ability to work with limited direction with experience in the following: design/investigative methodologies (Six Sigma DMAIC, 8D, etc.), material characterization metrology (DMA, tensile, TMA, Rheometry, mDSC, SEM, etc.), ASTM/ISO testing standards and experience developing custom protocols to gain insight in material behavior, broad understanding of polymer manufacturing technologies and impact on material performance, strong data analysis skillset including knowledge of statistical design of experiments, multivariate correlation, and modeling.

Experience and knowledge of JMP software.

Ability to focus and summarize complex data sets towards key decision points and actions for upper-level management.

Effective communication skills with the ability to organize technical information for presentation to suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

Strong persuasion and influence skills with the ability to drive/effect change without direct authority across an organization.

Able to lift up to 20 pounds.
-
Able to perform job functions in elevated conditions (such as raised platform and approved ladders).

Able to work extended hours within a cleanroom environment.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

Advanced degree with hands on research is a plus.

Knowledge on the CMP process and pads is preferred.

Experience in semiconductor and/or polymer material industry is a plus.

Fluent in Mandarin
