Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit. Then wait in a room solely designed for waiting. Then wait for a surprise bill. In any other consumer industry, the companies delivering such a poor customer experience would not survive. But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.
Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. In doing so, we can make healthcare work like every other consumer sector, where businesses compete for customers, not the other way around. In time, this will drive quality up and prices down.

Your Impact on Our Mission
As a Product Design Intern at Zocdoc, you will play a meaningful role in crafting intuitive and impactful healthcare experiences. During your internship you’ll collaborate with our Design, Product, and Engineering teams to solve real-world problems, gaining valuable experience in the end-to-end product design process. Your work over the summer will directly enhance Zocdoc’s platform, empowering patients and providers nationwide.

What to expect…
- You’ll kick off your summer by learning all things Zocdoc. Your first week will be spent learning about our business, our design process, and various tools
- You’ll gain design fundamentals by developing wireframes, mockups, user flows, and prototypes that communicate design ideas effectively
- You’ll be exposed to user research planning and assist in conducting user interviews and usability tests to gather insights and validate design decisions
- You’ll participate in team critiques and brainstorming sessions to refine concepts across the team
- You’ll present concepts and findings to team members and cross-functional stakeholders, collaborating with product managers and engineers to inform your design decisions
- In addition to working in a real product design environment, you’ll also be assigned a project to work on This project will be relevant to Zocdoc’s strategic goals and give you a hands-on immersive education
You’ll be successful in this role if you have…
- A sound understanding of product design and research best practices
- Familiarity and experience with Figma or Qualtrics
- A strong desire to be part of an equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplace
- An eagerness to immerse yourself in Zocdoc, problem-solve daily, and be continuously challenged
- Completed coursework or are pursuing a degree in User Experience (UX) Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, UX Research, or a related field
- A portfolio that showcases several case studies that demonstrate your design thinking, process, experience, and outcomes
- Superb communication skills! You believe in keeping all of your stakeholders in the loop and know that multiple mediums of communication are the key to success
- Humility. You believe in treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure

Zocdoc is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. Base salary offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. Certain positions are also eligible for variable pay and/or equity; your recruiter will discuss the full compensation package details.
NYC Hourly Pay Range
$40—$41 USD
