Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design Engineer / Usability Engineer to join our SonicWall product team. In this role, you will collaborate with customers and partners to conduct user research, gather insights, and recommend product and go-to-market (GTM) improvements. Your work will play a critical role in enhancing the user experience and ensuring our products meet the needs of our diverse clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- User Research: Conduct interviews, surveys, and usability testing with customers and partners to gather feedback on SonicWall products.
- Data Analysis: Analyze user research data to identify pain points, user needs, and areas for improvement in product design and functionality.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing, to communicate user insights and advocate for user-centered design principles.
- Design Recommendations: Propose actionable design and usability enhancements based on research findings, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
- Prototyping: Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts and communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders.
- GTM Strategy: Collaborate with the marketing team to inform GTM strategies based on user feedback and market trends.
- Documentation: Create detailed design specifications, user journey maps, and usability reports to guide development and ensure consistency in user experience.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously refine and enhance our product offerings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer, Usability Engineer, or similar role, preferably in the tech or cybersecurity industry.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers, partners, and team members effectively.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD).
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing, with a solid grasp of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with Agile development processes and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) is a plus.
