Job Title : Procurement Buyer
Reporting to Procurement Manager
Location: India – Chennai
Role Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role will be responsible for procurement operations activity within EQ.
Proactiveness, self-drive, determination, and a positive attitude and behaviours are requirement of this role, as is a target orientated individual.
The Procurement Buyer role is responsible for delivering best practice operational processes and practices by utilising technology and following EQ policies and procedures. The jobholder will seek continuous improvement in all activities performed, working under the instruction and closely with the Procurement Operations Manager.
The role holder will deliver excellent customer service, truly understanding the business need and any issues raised by internal stakeholders, seeking speedy and effective solutions.
Developing strong working relationships with all members of the Procurement Team and being flexible in approach and tasks required for the betterment of the team (and its desired outcomes) is a key aspect of this role.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Providing helpdesk services (via phone, email and systems like ServiceNow) to support front line business with procurement enquiries or problems, resolving issues.
- Managing centralised requisition and purchase order processes (front end P2P services), including providing an order on behalf of service for key stakeholders.
- Undertaking compliance to business led sourcing activity (in line with Policy)
- Creating, updating and maintaining supplier catalogues on Workday to ensure a great end user ordering experience.
- Performing system contract management and database admin (including milestones/flags/client dependencies)
- Producing procurement management information (performance, compliance etc.) to the Procurement Team and the business, via a range of sophisticated dashboards
- Performing spend analytics to uncover insights for the Procurement Team and EQ businesses
- Producing market intelligence reports for the Procurement Team
- Managing the supplier onboarding and due diligence process (issue, follow up and close) in line with policy.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

- A track record of achieving targets and results.
- A desire to provide best in class customer service.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in procurement operations or related activity
- Strong grounding in procurement operations processes and practices
- Understanding of procurement processes and systems, including P2P, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship and risk management practices
- Experience in supporting the development of process and systems in procurement.
- Strong data and analytical skills, comfortable using fact-based analysis to support business decision making.
- Excellent data and information presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capability to “sell” procurement and understand and win over sceptical stakeholders.
- Industry experience, potentially including financial services background.
- Capacity to engage with strategic issues and work alongside stakeholders to develop pragmatic plans of action which are aligned with their business needs.
