Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting market data to inform strategic sourcing decisions, identify cost-saving opportunities, and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to crop protection active ingredients. Previous experience on sourcing market intel and data from the Chinese and Indian markets is a must. Experience in the crop protection industry with a basic understanding of the regulatory framework would be advantageous.
This position reports to: Global Head of Procurement
Role Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research on industry trends, competitor activities, and supplier capabilities related to crop protection active ingredients (AIs) globally.
- Data Collection: Assess global data sources for crop protection chemicals as well as related intermediates and raw materials from various sources, including industry reports, databases, and market surveys.
- Reporting: Develop and maintain market intelligence reports and dashboards, as well as a historical price database of relevant input materials and generic AIs.
- Supplier Capability: Assess and evaluate suppliers based on external market intelligence combined with internal metrics to support procurement strategies.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze cost structures on critical AIs in conjunction with Procurement Managers to enable cost optimization to ensure competitiveness.
- Risk identification: Stay abreast of market developments of competing molecules/generic entrants to provide advanced warning to the business allowing time to develop strategies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with procurement teams and other stakeholders to ensure data supports business objectives.
- Networking: Establish a trusted knowledge network within the agrochemical industry specifically and the synthetic organic chemicals sector generally.
- Collaboration: Work with other Gowan teams in adjacent areas related to the objectives of the Procurement Group.
Education:
- Required education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Certifications: Professional certifications in procurement or market intelligence.
- Training: statistical analysis methods (preferred).
Experience / Skills / Abilities:
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw conclusions, incorporating statistical methods where applicable.
- Critical thinking Skills: Ability to evaluate complex situations, foresee potential challenges, and devise strategic solutions.
- Research Skills: Ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present key information summaries and conclusions to an audience with a wide range of background and experience.
- Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of the crop protection business, with particular emphasis on active ingredient procurement.
- Experience: Substantial experience in procurement or market research, including import/export analysis.
- Experience: Substantial experience in market research in China and/or India is required.
- Computer Skills: Skilled in the use of Microsoft products, including Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, etc.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or other data processing software to visualize key business metrics and trends
- Language: Fluency in English is required; fluency in Mandarin is desirable.
- Time in role: At least five years’ experience in Procurement Analysis.
