Process Technology Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company, a recognized leader in the energy industry, is seeking Process Technology Interns at our Catlettsburg, KY refinery.
This internship is a one-semester program consisting of a minimum of 300 hours of work experience over the semester. The intern will learn about the roles and responsibilities of an Operator at the refinery. We are currently seeking interns for summer 2025.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The goal of this program is to provide a hands-on learning experience to qualified individuals who are enrolled in a 2-year Process Technology program. This internship program provides Process Technology students the opportunity to work in a controlled refinery environment, while learning about the Operator position at the refinery.
An Associate’s Degree and hands-on experience at the refinery should give the student a solid foundation from which to pursue a career as a process technology operator.
The internship program is designed for students who are in a process technology program to develop and apply knowledge, technical skills and interpersonal skills in the workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a registered Community & Technical College student and enrolled in the 2-year Process Technology Program which leads to an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree or a recent graduate (one year) of the program.
Must have good class standing. No academic probation accepted. This includes a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Will be required to submit college transcripts.
Must be available for day and night shifts. The Intern will primarily work Monday-Friday (day schedule). No overtime will be permitted.

o Process Fundamentals - APT 102
o Process Chemistry - APT 106
o Process Operations - APT 144
o Process Operations Safety - APT 148
o Mathematics - MAT 126 or 116
o Computer Literacy - CIS 100
o Writing I - ENG 101
o OSHA, Health & Environmental Safety - SFA 101
