We are looking for an Engineer/Scientist with expertise to support our Texturant business on a global scale.
As a Process R&D Engineer you will leverage cross-functional disciplines within our global Technology & Innovation community and be a part of an agile and collaborative development team of technologists, scientists, and engineers to span the process development from laboratory experimentation to full-scale process implementation.
You will be directly responsible for process development, scale up of new Hydrocolloid production from R&D/Lab Scale to full scale manufacturing and ensure that our production sites are delivering products that meet quality, quantity, and cost.
The Texturant team is part of the Food Ingredients Business Unit of IFF. This position reports to the Senior Manager, R&D Texturants, based in Brabrand.

Main responsibilities:

  • Process development for new functional ingredients products.
  • Process support and troubleshooting for our production facilities around the globe.
  • Scale-up and support the transition from lab scale to pilot scale, and pilot scale to production.
  • Coordinate and execute lab and pilot scale work associated with process development.
  • Support and champion corporate safety & sustainable initiatives.
  • Develop and document process technology information:
    • determine critical operating limits
    • develop both raw material and product specification ranges
    • understand transfer functions between operational parameters and physical properties, and applications performance

Candidate profile:
 

  • MSc. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, or BSc. with some additional years of relevant experience
  • Having some experience in manufacturing environments would be an asset for this position
  • Knowledge within safety leadership and experience with process safety management
  • Experience with process R&D / process development and success in delivering creative solutions
  • Strong technical competence in engineering fundamentals and ability to interpret data and apply scientific principles, theories, and concepts, transferring theory to production processes.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with R&D, Applications, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Analytical, and Commercial teams.
  • Strong problem solving and technical competence, goal oriented and persistent.
  • Data based decision making and strong results driven/action orientated approach to projects.
  • A demonstrated history of delivering results managing projects in accordance with specified deliverables, on time, and within provided budget.
  • The ability to effectively present at both informal and formal training settings, ensuring continuous transfer of learnings across process teams and interdepartmental.
  • Strong safety culture background and ability to support and influence continued development of new processes.
  • Support continuous improvement, open to change and “can do” attitude.
  • Good Communication and interaction skills to work in international teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 25%).
