Job Summary:
The Private Markets Specialist is integral to maintaining accurate and compliant financial operations by strictly adhering to internal policies and procedures. This role is responsible for processing Portfolio Company Capital Calls and Distributions, updating Limited Partner (LP) activity records, and generating monthly reports. A key part of the role involves collaboration with the Private Markets Operations Middle Office in Asia, other investment operations teams, and external vendors to support operations related to private assets.
The ideal candidate will possess a global perspective and work effectively with Asia teams on various initiatives and projects, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of daily operations. Responsibilities include overseeing and supporting the funding process, trade settlement, and transaction processing for private assets such as mortgages, private equity, fixed income, and other alternative assets. Additionally, the role involves managing cash and transaction reconciliations, security master data management, monthly and quarterly reporting, expense management, and participating in ad hoc projects as needed.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Data Validation and Accuracy: Review and ensure the accuracy of Security Master File data fields in the Deal Origination System (DealGen) for all private asset classes, such as private debt, term loans, alternative investments, and private equity. Confirm these are complete and accurate against source documents for correct setup in the Accounting Book of Record (SCD). Work with the deal setup team to address any discrepancies during the origination process.
- Transaction Processing: Manage the timely and accurate processing of all Private Markets transactions, including Fundings (Capital Calls) and Income Distributions. Collaborate with custodians, internal Private Debt/Equity Groups, and external clients to monitor and reduce service disruptions.
- Compliance and Audit Support: Adhere to and reinforce SOX documentation requirements related to Key and Non-Key controls, with a particular focus on private markets activity. Assist with new and ongoing audit programs in coordination with internal and external examiners.
- Operational Oversight and Process Improvement: Follow established procedures and practices, ensuring clear and concise documentation is created and maintained. Oversee middle office services, including reconciliation, cash processing, corporate action processing, and transaction posting direction. Act as an escalation point for the middle office and continuously review and enhance existing controls and procedures to improve quality.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure the team operates within a robust control environment and completes tasks according to procedures and controls, using proper escalation protocols when necessary.
- Make significant contributions to projects, new initiatives, and technology developments.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:
- A graduate in any business-related field, such as Finance, Accounting, or Management, is preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in Private Markets with an emphasis on Middle Office functions, preferably within a banking, finance and/or asset management organization.
- A good understanding of the investment management industry and a strong desire to gain additional industry knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in environments that require adherence to procedures and controls.
- Strong computer skills, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new applications.
- Proficient in MS Office and knowledgeable about custodial banking systems (e.g., DTC, BNY Mellon, State Street Bank, Standard Charter, Citibank, DBS).
- Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Client-focused, with the ability to understand client requirements effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to react quickly and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.
- Excellent English language skills, both oral and written, with strong comprehension skills for effective communication with internal and external parties.
