Private Client Manager

We are looking for a dynamic Private Client Manager to drive the growth of our high net worth insurance division, Hiscox Private Client (HPC). With a focus on growing the Art & Private Client business (APC), this role involves managing the retention of your own book of high and ultra-high net worth clients often with their own complex needs.

The APC business is an important part of the Group strategy to drive retail excellence, and this role is pivotal in executing our ambitious strategic growth targets and in particular, moving APC back in to growth

To excel in this position, you should have a proven track record in client management within the high net worth insurance sector. You will be comfortable collaborating with a range of senior leaders as well as key external business partners, but most importantly, your own book of 300-400 clients in order to secure the best outcomes for the business and our customers.

The successful candidate will be adept at delivering exceptional customer service with the intellect to digest complexity whilst building relationships that will last the lifecycle of our clients insurance needs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Driving business growth by handling a book of high net worth clients to ensure exceptional retention performance and profitability.
  • Delivering and exceeding the performance measures required to support the HPC profit and loss account, whilst looking for opportunities to grow the business in line with the group strategy
  • Supporting plans for business growth within Hiscox by working with Operational Managers to consider forecasting, resourcing and operational management.
  • Getting to know and understand our clients – becoming their go to person for insurance needs and ensuring we are focused on the right customer outcome throughout their renewals and mid-term adjustments.
  • Ensuring a smooth handover for our clients from our new business team to you.
  • Going the extra mile when dealing with challenging situations, bringing the brand and values to life in every transaction.
  • Being the face of Hiscox Private Client as you conduct visits to your clients properties to support with renewals, surveys and claims.
  • Supporting managers in maintaining the UK risk and control environment, in line with delivering great outcomes for the business and our customers.

  • Great with people, able to build honest and effective relationships
  • Negotiation skills with all levels and types of client and experience of having dealt with non-standard risks
  • Experience of exceptional customer service, client management and face to face client visits.
  • Extraordinary communication skills with the ability to positively affect other people and to win business
  • Strong presentation skills to be able to pitch for business effectively and to influence decisions
  • Able to form strong relationships directly with our high net worth clients
  • Smart decision making when dealing with complex technical issues and ability to justify them even when facts are ambiguous and conflicting
  • Will regularly challenge convention, introduce non-standard business and able to take decisive action on loss making business
  • Demonstrable drive and energy to move self and business forward
  • Proven market reputation from experience in a client facing role
  • Strong market and competitor knowledge
