A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Principal Firmware Engineer at MKS/Plasma and Reactive Gas Solutions, you will be part of a company that is enabling the technologies that transform our world. Principal Firmware Engineers partner with other engineering groups, marketing, manufacturing, and sales to develop, support, and maintain our industry leading solutions for the critical semiconductor fabrication market. In this role, you will report to the manager of software engineering.
You Will Make an Impact By: (Responsibilities)
- Design, implementation, verification, and validation of embedded control systems.
- Learning and implementing new product features using Model Based Design methodologies.
- Sustaining support of legacy firmware.
- Assist in failure analysis/mitigation of legacy firmware design issues
- Applying POHC (plain old hand coding) methodologies where applicable
Skills You Bring: (Required Skills)
- BS science, technology, engineering, math degree or equivalent
- 7+ years working with embedded microcontroller systems
- Fluency with C programming language and familiarity with C++ and Python programming languages
- Ability to work collaboratively with other software engineers and engineers/scientists of other disciplines
Preferred Skills:
- Sound understanding of software configuration management practices
- Familiarity with basic electronics lab equipment and their use in diagnosing and debugging issues with embedded microcontroller systems
- Familiarity with switched mode power conversion technologies
- Familiarity with Texas Instruments C28x microcontroller architecture
- Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and Model Based Design
