As a key member of the reporting operations team within Central Data Operations (CDOPS), the Principal Reporting Analyst plays a vital role in designing, creating, testing and deploying reports, dashboards and certified data sets as the basis for analytics work conducted by PTC’s business teams. In this role you will build strong alignment with the customer-facing Sales and Customer success organizations and internal partners across the enterprise (e.g. Sustainability, Finance, HR, Sales Ops, Customer Ops, Accounting) to provide innovative analytical solutions that deliver the critical information required to make fact-based decisions and empower action aligned with PTC’s mission, goals, and objectives.

The near-term focus of the Principal Reporting Analyst will be on environmental and social sustainability and corporate governance (collectively referred to as ESG) data, with daily duties consisting of data loading, data review, data input and regular communication and follow-up with other corporate functions (Real Estate, Accounts Payable/Receivable, HR, Procurement, etc.) to gather, collate and prepare reporting on quantitative metrics for our public ESG submissions and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities will expand and transition to other data domains over the course of the first year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting global internal business partners with reporting and analyses
  • Designing and implementing the information delivery components of data operations by partnering with the business and IT to deliver impactful solutions that meet executive, operational and analytical needs
  • Creating data models and prototype analytic and reporting solutions using Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Qlik, and other SQL or query based tools to provide insightful data for various business informational needs
  • Managing various internal reporting tools, reporting hierarchies and maintaining data integrity between different reporting systems and tools.
  • Investigating and resolving application and process related issues in Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Qlik, and other SQL or query-based environments independently
  • Transforming raw data into meaningful and useful visualizations to reveal operational and performance insights
  • Gathering business requirements and completing design, coding, testing and implementation of business intelligence reports and operational analytics
  • Producing and managing regular, periodic, and ad hoc business analytics and operational reports for information delivery operations
  • Identifying areas with opportunities for process improvements and taking a proactive stance in implementing the change
  • Working cross-functionally on development and implementation of projects related to Central Data Operations to ensure the success of projects/programs
  • Defining and overseeing ESG impact metrics, collecting and analyzing data, monitoring progress towards stated goals, and developing dashboards to support strategic initiatives

Skills and knowledge most relevant to the job:

  • A strong understanding of various reporting, data, and analytics disciplines, such as ad-hoc reporting, dashboarding, and operational analytics
  • Experience with prototype development, and data modeling / analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL or query-based tools is desirable
  • Hands-on experience with two or more reporting and data visualization tools (Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI, or Qlik Sense preferred)
  • Strong experience in writing and executing complex SQL queries to identify data trends, and data gaps
  • Experience creating data models that solve complex reporting needs
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and displaying concepts through creative visuals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service to internal business partners
  • Familiarity with ESG metrics, standards, and reporting frameworks

Additional skills/knowledge that will help you be successful:

  • Experience with a subscription or contract-based recurring revenue environment
  • Understanding of business operations and ability to improve processes
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle EBS and Salesforce applications is a plus
  • Experience with a coding language such as Python
  • Proactive and independent mindset, strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Willingness to go above and beyond, and curiosity about data and underlying systems
  • Extremely detail oriented, goal-focused, organized and ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, advanced preferred, in scientific or business disciplines
  • 5-10 years of experience in data management or analytics
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
