ROLE OVERVIEW:  

Skillsoft is currently seeking a highly qualified Principal Product Manager to join the learning experience design studio team. The ideal candidate is multi-disciplinary with a deep understanding of Agentic UX, product-led growth approaches, content authoring tools, instructional design principles, LMS/LXP platforms, learning standards and familiarity with broader talent solutionsThe Product Manager is both a visionary and a product execution guru, responsible for driving and managing product releases in support of the business needs and customer requirements. This includes providing guidance on prioritizing features and making tradeoff decisions that favor the market/business, and managing dependencies between teams. The Product Manager collaborates with leadership responsible for defining the scope of present and future products and will work closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, User Experience Design, Marketing Communications, Sales, Customer Support and Consulting Technical Services departments. The Principal product manager is highly customer focused and continuously seeks input, feedback and collaboration to validate product directions. 

 

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS and Key RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Define and Execute Product Strategy – Develop and manage a comprehensive product roadmap for a cloud-based authoring suite, aligning with business goals and market needs. 

  • Drive Innovation with AI & Advanced Technologies – Leverage AI-driven UX and emerging technologies to enhance author experience 

  • Lead Agile Product Development – Collaborate with Engineering, QA, and UX to manage and groom the product backlog, refine requirements, estimate effort, and drive development cycles. 

  • Prioritize Features & Market Impact – Balance feature prioritization, tradeoff decisions, and product-led growth strategies to optimize adoption and engagement. 

  • Enhance UX & Usability – Work closely with User Experience Designers to build a UX strategy, develop feature-level designs, and conduct usability testing. 

  • Measure Product Success – Establish and track key performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of product initiatives and guide future decisions. 

  • Ensure High-Quality Product Releases – Participate in acceptance testing, documentation, and release planning, ensuring smooth deployment of new features and enhancements. 

  • Conduct Market & Competitive Research – Stay informed on industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to drive continuous product improvement. 

  • Support Sales & Marketing Initiatives – Assist in go-to-market planning, product training, and customer presentations to drive market adoption. 

  • Engage Customers for Continuous Improvement – Actively gather feedback, validate product direction, and refine features to enhance user satisfaction. 

  • Act as a Product Evangelist – Provide ongoing support to direct and channel sales teams, ensuring a deep understanding of product capabilities and benefits. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of SAAS platforms and a solid grasp of AI-driven solutions, and data analytics. Use of AI for productivity and efficiency in day-to-day work   

  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to align product strategies with overall business goals while identifying opportunities for growth. 

  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential for successful collaboration; ability to represent concepts visually; written, verbal, organizational skills. 

  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile practices helps manage iterative development and rapid prototyping. 

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving collaboration and achieving results. 

  • Innovation Mindset: Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a keen interest in emerging technologies and industry trends. 

  • Demonstratable Competency in: 

  • Product execution – feature specification, quality assurance and acceptance, product delivery and go-to-market commercialization. 

  • Customer insight – fluency with data, UX design principles and best practices, voice of customer 

  • Product strategy – product vision and road mapping, strategic impact 

  • Influencing people – stakeholder management, team leadership, managing up 

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a SAAS Product Manager in a technology-driven field, preferably with direct exposure to talent lifecycle solutions. 

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, entrepreneurial start-up environment. 

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence or other Agile software development tools is desired. 

  • Experience working with virtual teams is desired.
