About the Role
Automotive is your native language and based on the Harman Automotive product solutions you want to shape Harman’s product integration of tomorrow to create the future of holistic in-car end-user experiences. With your vehicle-level acoustics integration and knowledge and expertise within perfected end-user audio experience, you are an ambassador for the acoustics integration of Harmans cross-domain Automotive products and solutions.
As an acoustics engineer for in-vehicle audio experience in the EPIC team, you work with appropriate stakeholders to plan and specify the in-vehicle system integration and design, develop, and tune new audio systems in the vehicles. The role will leverage Harman's brand technology leadership to apply brand-relevant technologies to cars to create world-class automotive audio systems.
What You Will Do

Work with global Harman teams to define the scope of various projects that include concept cars, customer-specific demo vehicles, and prototypes of new audio experiences

Investigate new audio-related technologies and best practices

Participate in research and create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems for the automotive environment

Develop and document worldwide acoustic systems tools and best practices
-
Closely collaborate with internal product and technology departments, architects, and technology suppliers on relevant future technologies and product concepts

Present new concepts to customers, media, etc. at demo events and tech shows
-
Investigate new UI/UX/audio-related technologies and best practices
-
Deliver vehicle-level as well as novel acoustics and technology know-how into the organization and foster the creation of compelling cross-domain solutions

Support strategic technology and innovation initiatives
What You Need
-
Master’s degree in engineering and 8+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 12+ years of experience
-
Specific experience in at least two of the following fields: acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, psychoacoustic, and recording arts.

Detailed knowledge of acoustic theory, sound reproduction, and sound system tuning

Well-founded knowledge in further automotive domains like electronics, DSP software, and mechanics

Practical experience and excellent understanding of acoustics systems integration within automotive
-
Team player with the ability to work in global cross-domain and -functional teams
-
Capable of creating specifications, guidelines, and documentation that clearly defines and supports the system integration
-
Self-motivated and willing to drive things forward
-
Ability to quickly get used to new topics as well as a high degree of flexibility
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills
-
Knowledge of features, strengths, and weaknesses of various software and hardware in the audio and computing realm
-
Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business
What is Nice to Have

Experience in executing and innovation projects

3+ years of experience in automotive electronics project development

Background in multiple of the following areas: acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, psychoacoustic, and recording arts.

Strong quality mind with a focus on creating surprising long-lasting end-user experiences

Specific experience required in three or more of the following fields: signal flow design, UI/UX design, graphic design, acoustic engineering, digital signal processing, psychoacoustics, and recording arts.

Knowledge of 2D or 3D visual design software (Adobe Suite, CAD software, etc.) is preferred.

Passion for acoustics and sound reproduction

Knowledge of recording arts/Musician

Salary Ranges:
$ 100,125 - $ 146,850
