The Role

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join the Operations team as a strategic leader and hands-on technical expert. In this role, you will own and enhance our data infrastructure while driving cross-functional insights and decision-making across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations teams.

This role leverages AI-driven techniques to extract meaningful insights from various customer interactions, helping shape product decisions, customer engagement strategies, and revenue operations initiatives. You will determine the most effective approach to enhancing data processes or exploring new tools and technologies while taking ownership of research, strategy, and execution.

Additionally, you will support sales performance analysis, forecasting, and revenue modeling, ensuring clean, well-structured data to drive sales strategies and customer segmentation.

This role balances 60% strategic leadership and collaboration with 40% hands-on technical work, blending data engineering, analytics, and business problem-solving while mentoring other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Infrastructure

  • Own and optimize data architecture, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

  • Partner with Ops Engineering to improve data pipelines and integrations.

  • Manage and optimize AWS Redshift and other key platforms.

  • Define and enforce data governance best practices.

AI & Analytics for Customer and Product Insights

  • Extract insights from customer interactions using AI-driven analytics.

  • Identify trends in feature requests, pain points, and product issues.

  • Develop dashboards to provide actionable insights for stakeholders.

Sales & Revenue Operations Support

  • Ensure data is structured and available for sales tracking, forecasting, and segmentation.

  • Support revenue modeling and churn risk analysis.

  • Maintain CRM data integrity and enable data-driven sales strategies.

Experimentation & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Support A/B testing and controlled experiments to optimize product and sales decisions.

  • Develop models to measure customer engagement and sales effectiveness.

  • Build predictive models for customer retention and revenue growth.

Self-Service Data Enablement

  • Work with stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making.

  • Develop self-service tools and training materials.

  • Promote best practices and data accessibility across teams.

Practical stuff we anticipate you having

Must-Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, product analytics, or SaaS.

  • Strong experience with SQL, AWS Redshift, and ETL pipelines.

  • Proficiency with BI tools (Looker, Metabase, Mixpanel).

  • Experience with AI-driven analytics and NLP techniques.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in SaaS, especially in content creation or enterprise tech.

  • Familiarity with customer feedback and conversational intelligence tools.

  • Hands-on experience with Python or scripting languages for data automation.
