Key Responsibilities:

- Leadership and Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for automation technologies, processes, and best practices within the organization.

- Project Management: Technical Lead to support and manage automation projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

- Solution Design: Develop and design automation solutions that meet business requirements, improve efficiency, and enhance quality.

- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and business units, to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions.

- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for automation processes, solutions, and project plans.

- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with automation vendors and service providers to ensure the effective delivery of solutions and services.

- Training: Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff to promote the adoption and effective use of automation technologies.

- Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and proactively recommend innovative solutions to enhance the organization’s automation capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Education: 

  - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

- Experience:

  - Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in automation engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or SME role.

  - Proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex automation projects.

  - Extensive experience with automation technologies and tools such as PLCs, HMI, Vision Systems, and robotics applied in a high speed, high-volume manufacturing, and distribution center environments.

  - Extensive experience with MES, SCADA systems, and software automation frameworks (e.g. FactoryTalk, Ignition, Tulip, Apriso, etc.)

  - Extensive experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs, Fanuc Robots (or similar), Cognex Vision Systems, Phyton, Jaba, Visual Basic, C++,C#, LabView, etc.

  - Extensive experience with best practices for industry 4.0 and best practices for cyber security.

  - Extensive experience in Manufacturing Technologies Including Ultrasonic welding, 3D printing, Laser Marking and Laser Cutting, Database, 5-Axis CNC Machines, Coordinated Motion system, and RFID System

  - Extensive experience with machinery safety design guidelines & standards

- Experience implementing high-speed automation technology for manufacturing within a FDA regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, etc).

- Technical Skills:

  - Deep understanding of automation principles, methodologies, and best practices.

  - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or similar.

  - Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and industrial networks.

  - Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.

  - Familiar with mechanical design software such ACAD and SolidWorks.

- Soft Skills:

  - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  - Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  - Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.

- Certifications:

  - Relevant certifications such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar are highly desirable.

- Other Requirements:

  - Ability to travel as needed for project requirements.

  - Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

 - Bilingual English and Spanish.
