About the Role:
Maxar is seeking a Principal Application Engineer to join Maxar's Product Engineering team. In this role you will have the ability to influence the direction of the Maxar Product Roadmap, creating compelling & creative solutions to market needs. You will be a subject matter expert will interact across the engineering team, product team and our sales teams to build compelling solutions leveraging our suite of capabilities. The Solutions Architect will be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record across a variety of technical roles. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, sophisticated business and technical acumen, and the ability to drive the development of solutions.
Responsibilities

  • Enable US Government technical sales activity by designing and developing solutions through pre-sales engagements with customers and early prototyping.
  • Rigorous technical and solutions qualification of innovation projects and sales opportunities focusing resources on those opportunities/projects which differentiate in the marketplace.
  • Develop and deploy unique technology solutions as proofs-of-concept.
  • Develop and present innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Continually assess product quality, release readiness, and maintain existing Maxar solutions.
  • Interact directly with customers and their technical experts to review, understand, and gather requirements and convey those technical requirements to Maxar internal teams
  • Articulate and clearly communicate with multiple Maxar stakeholders and leaders with consistency and integrity.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and government regulations.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Geospatial Information Systems)
  • 10 or more years of enterprise experience in relevant technical and business fields in remote sensing, defense, and intelligence or geospatial industry.
  • Software development experience (e.g., JavaScript, Python, API Development, Database Management)
  • Able to analyze customer requirements and perform geospatial feasibility studies using tools such as Excel, ArcGIS, and MATLAB
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills across multiple disciplines, including written, verbal and solutions architectural diagrams
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Results-oriented team player with a demonstrated high level of integrity.
  • Demonstrates creativity in developing winning solutions.
  • Works well in a dynamic environment where some of the parameters are unknown and change is a given.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant technologies, products, services, and methods.
  • Experience with developing product demonstrations and proofs of concept to showcase the capabilities and benefits of our solution to potential customers.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the Earth Imagery, Derivatives, and/or Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning markets highly desired.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Synthetic Aperture Radar and Machine Learning
  • Excellent industry and market awareness.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with editing, building and deploying web applications


Our ideal candidate for this role, has held several roles over the last 10-15yrs, including a combination of at least three of the following type of positions:

  • Sales, Pre-Sales, or Sales Engineering
  • GIS Engineer or GIS Analyst or GIS Developer
  • Remote Sensing Technician or Imagery Analyst
  • Technical Support Representative
  • Systems Engineer or Systems Architect
  • Solutions Architect
  • Software Developer
  • Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer


In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $141,000.00 - $235,000.00 annually.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $155,000.00 - $259,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
