Job Description

The Major Incident process is a crucial component of Invesco's availability management. The Principal Incident Manager will own and refine this process, incorporating best practices and stakeholder feedback to enhance service delivery. Success in this role requires a strong aptitude for new technologies and procedures, as well as the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Major Incident Ownership: Take charge of critical Major Incidents within the Invesco environment, coordinating with technology teams and ensuring effective communication.
  • Service Availability: Ensure all Technology services meet agreed Service Levels (Availability Management).
  • Leadership: Lead, drive, facilitate, and chair all investigation activities, meetings, and conference calls.
  • Communication: Issue executive or business communications as required and manage key stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date reports, OKRs, and key documentation. Ensure high performance service levels for core service management processes and implement improvements as needed.
  • Global Collaboration: Partner with peers globally to achieve the goals of the stability organization. This includes:
    • Liaising with the Problem Management team to ensure appropriate actions are taken by respective teams to maintain life cycle progression.
    • Liaising with the Change Management team to scrutinize all infra-related changes that may affect the stability of the environment.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Participate in and help drive strategic initiatives across the entire technology organization.
  • Service-Oriented Culture: Enable and champion an IT service-oriented culture.
    Optimization: Work with Infrastructure and Applications groups to optimize IT Infrastructure services, ensuring stable, high-performing services that benefit business units.
  • Reporting: Provide a range of IT availability reports to measure and monitor agreed levels of availability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Holistic Management: Manage availability holistically, including people, process, and technology.
  • Incident Reduction: Take actions to reduce the frequency and duration of incidents impacting IT availability. Ensure service delivery performance meets company expectations and drive demand.
  • Complaint Management: Manage escalated complaints and feedback professionally to satisfy IT/business stakeholders.
  • Service Continuity: Ensure a cohesive, high-quality service by working closely with other IT teams across the enterprise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Oversee the development, continual improvement, and operational delivery of IT services.
  • Service Upgrades: Recommend and implement improvements for service upgrades on time.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build strong relationships with teams and stakeholders to facilitate effective dialogue between departments.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide accurate and regular performance reports to management.
  • Personnel Management: Lead personnel management, including staff recruitment, performance assessment, training, and mentoring.

Required Experience and Knowledge:

  • IT Service Delivery: Minimum 10+ years of experience in IT Service Delivery.
  • Leadership: Minimum 2+ years of Leadership Experience.
  • Global Environment: Experience working in a Global IT Service Delivery environment is essential.
  • ITIL and COBIT: Proficiency in IT service management software, including ITIL principles and COBIT.
  • Financial Services: Experience in Financial Services is a key advantage; experience in a highly pressurized environment is essential.
  • People Skills: Excellent people skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication skills, able to converse at senior management and engineer levels.
  • Crisis Management: High-energy, confident professional with the ability to remain calm and take control in a crisis.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Necessary to effectively communicate over the phone with a variety of individuals at all technical levels
