Overview of the role:

Are you looking to play a pivotal role in driving the success of enterprise grocery and convenience store chains across the globe? As a Presales Solutions Consultant at Upshop, you will be working firsthand with the retail executives and change management leaders as they look to outline and implement total store operations SaaS technology solutions, centered on increasing topline sales, decreasing shrink and optimizing labor efficiencies across stores.  

In this role, you will work closely with our sales, product, solutions architect teams to deliver tailored technology solutions that address the unique needs of our clients. Your expertise will help demonstrate the value of our offerings, build strong client relationships, and secure new business opportunities. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work hands-on with prospects and customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of Upshop technology throughout the sales cycle – from demo to proof of concept to design. 
  • Support Sales during sales cycle to achieve defined sales goals. 
  • Participating in assessments and collection of technical data. 
  • Setup and execute lead discovery calls with prospects. 
  • Market research and identify new sales opportunities/markets/verticals. 
  • Immerse yourself in the ever-evolving industry, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position Upshop in relation to them. 
  • Build relationships with opportunity channel partners to enable collaboration. 
  • Provide ongoing deal support which includes objection management and handoff to services. 
  • Developing and delivering training to the Sales team and other groups regarding current technology trends, cloud technology fundamentals and new service offerings. 
  • Present technical and business aspects of proposed solutions to a C-Level audience. 
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continuously improve Upshop products. 
  • Represent Upshop's products to customers and at field events such as conferences, summits, seminars, etc. 
  • Learn and advise on the Upshop cloud architecture and services. 
  • Propose technical and creative business solutions in support of sales activities. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years as a Solution Consultant OR 5+ years in a Professional Services/Consulting role that is client-facing and involves sales scenarios in a SaaS organization. Retail software experience is an asset. 
  • Able to do custom POCs and demos. 
  • The ability to strategically problem solves by thinking outside of the box is required daily. 
  • Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs. 
  • Proven success conveying customer requirements to Product Management teams. 
  • Familiarity in cloud environments and hosting providers (Microsoft Azure) 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, customer interaction, requirements analysis, presentations, and 
  • system design. 
  • Outstanding presenting skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether informal or using presentations and demos. 
  • Broad range of experience within large-scale analytics and cloud technologies. 
  • Ability to connect a customer’s specific business problems and Upshop solutions. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within retail, preferably grocery and/or food & beverage.
  • Experience with inventory, supply chain, and retail operations.
  • Experience with SaaS technology solutions in a consultative sales and/or product role.
