Spotify is seeking a PR & Communications Manager (Parental Leave Cover) to join our Japan team. This is a fixed-term role covering parental leave for our Japan Communications Lead.


Reporting into the Head of Communications for Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (based in Singapore), this position requires a confident, independent, collaborative and culturally attuned communications professional who can lead local initiatives with our domestic team while staying aligned with our global story. The regional comms lead this role reports to does not speak the local language, so we’re looking for someone who can operate autonomously without the need for day-to-day handholding—yet is highly collaborative and communicative when it comes to direction-setting and alignment.


You’ll drive and implement PR campaigns across music, podcasts and tech, build and amplify thoughtful local narratives that reflect Spotify’s brand, and act as a key bridge between the Japan team and our international communications network. The ideal candidate will be proactive, creative, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. Experience in entertainment, lifestyle, music, technology, or youth culture is a strong plus. The role also includes cross collaborating with the Marketing team on influencer engagement, so experience with this is also a plus.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional, regional and global team members and partners to plan and execute Spotify Japan PR Comms campaigns and day-to-day work/activities
  • Manage and partner with Japan based Comms-related agencies with clear prioritization, direction and ongoing guidance to deliver on communications goals
  • Craft compelling materials including media pitches, press pitches, talking points, briefing docs and much more in alignment with brand voice and objectives - both in Japanese and in English
  • Help drive Spotify’s earned influencer related activations including material development, relationship management, events and more

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 8+ years' relevant PR and Comms or Influencer experience in the Japan market, both in-house and agency preferred
  • Own existing and reliable relationships with influencers and thought leaders
  • Strong knowledge of the industry including key players and trends
  • Experience with communications supporting a global company in a fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to develop and implement integrated PR campaigns
  • Motivated self-starter with hands-on attitude and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong project management and agency management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a hectic and extremely fast-moving industry and environment
  • Collaborative individual who enjoys partnering closely across teams and departments to create and distribute the most impactful communications possible
  • Strategic thinker, resourceful problem-solver and ability to balance evolving short- and long-term priorities
  • Eager to deliver original, out-of-the-box communications strategies and a willingness to color outside of the lines
  • You are fluent in both English and Japanese
