The Power Systems Engineer will provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the interconnection of new generation resources and future planning of the electric power system.
- Analyzes transmission network data including Transmission and Generation element parameters.
- Analyzes the results of simulated power system studies and may compare to actual operating data to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Performs powerflow studies as required to analyze the feasibility of proposed generation interconnections.
- Reviews and develops methods to increase model accuracy including data comparisons and validity checks.
- Develops, enhances, and maintains reports associated with Protocol and Guide compliance criteria.
- Communicates requirements and results to all internal and external stakeholders in the interconnection process.
- Works closely with Client Services and System Planning.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields.
Required Experience:
- One year experience (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industry.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience running power system load flow studies in PSSE.
- Experience running transfer analysis systems studies.
- Ability to clearly communicate requirements and other technical information.
- Ability to write technical reports of in-depth analysis completed.
- Experience with Python, VBA, or another programming language.
- Experience creating queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL.
- Experience using TARA.
