Job Description

Analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains software for the organization’s products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to maintain throughput and program consistency. Develops, validates, and tests: structures and user documentation.

Basic Requirements

Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated PostgreSQL & Oracle Developer/Administrator to join our growing software engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of database administration and development, with proven experience in both PostgreSQL and Oracle environments. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of our database systems.

Responsibilities:

• Database Development

  • Designing, developing, and implementing database schemas and stored procedures.

  • Writing efficient SQL queries and optimizing database performance.

  • Working with development teams to integrate database solutions into applications.

  • Developing and maintaining database documentation.

  • Creating and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.

  • Contributing to database design reviews and providing technical guidance.

• Database Administration

  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.

  • Performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization of database systems.

  • Backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and availability.

  • Security administration, including user management, access control, and auditing.

  • Capacity planning and resource management.

  • Troubleshooting database issues and resolving performance bottlenecks.

  • Implementing and maintaining high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Staying current with the latest database technologies and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with significant experience in both PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.

• Proven experience in database performance tuning and optimization.

• Strong understanding of SQL and PL/SQL.

• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.

• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

• Experience with database security best practices.

• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) is a plus.

• Experience with data modeling and database design methodologies.

• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are a plus.
