Segment : Royal Canin

Type of contract : Temporary contract (18 months)

Location : Aimargues France (near Montpellier)

The Functional Complement Centre of Expertise (COE) is a newly formed business unit with an ambition to establish new categories for Royal Canin – Supplements and Treats – as well as bring growth to our other iconic co-manufactured portfolios, at pace and with global scale. There are more pet needs we could cover with those new categories Royal Canin wants to be present and win in. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of new categories for Royal Canin, establishing new ways to deliver health benefits for Cats&Dogs and pushing even further the limits of science health nutrition category growth.

The main mission of the Portfolio Manager is to drive the portfolio strategy & pipeline development for the categories under their responsibility (Treats, Liquid Nutritional Solutions incl. Milk) and executing it by launching the distinctive propositions on a global scale under the supervision of the Functional Complements Demand Director.

What are we looking for :

  • Business School (MBA or Bachelor degree) or Engineer's degree.
  • 4+ years in CPG / pharmaceutical strategic marketing, including leading innovation (global/regional/local)
  • Fluent in English
  • Functional Marketing knowledge,
  • Experience in defining new value propositions that meet and exceed business objectives
  • Digital marketing knowledge (appreciated)
  • High learning agility
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Data first mindset
  • Highly proactivity and drive for result

We are looking for a person with strong ownership, strategic thinking, solid functional marketing expertise, particularly in innovation and value proposition creation, as well as ability to deal with ambiguity and work at high pace, to think outside of the box and to deliver consistent results.

What will be your key responsibilities ?

In partnership with the Global Marketing Innovation Director, define a strategy for the territories responsible for and help tailoring it to key markets/regions in partnership with local teams.

- Shape and Lead a clear vision and innovation strategy. Identifying territory trends, pet and Pet Owner pain points, portfolio opportunities and gaps to fulfil pet health outcomes and financial growth targets

- Nurture the 8Y Innovation pipeline and complete front end innovation and project scope for the next +2Y cycle

- Engage all key stakeholders behind the strategy and proposed roadmap

Lead projects

-Lead innovation / portfolio development project through each gate in collaboration with internal stakeholders (R&D, regulatory, scientific support, packaging, agencies, other Innovation leads…) and in full compliance with established procedures, regulation, legislation, and tools. Fully own the proposition development and validation, including product

- Drive the development phase of new and existing projects, including value proposition creation with proof of concept for pets, pet owners and retailers, product and pack development, distribution and pricing strategy, considering feasibility and viability in-line with principles and KPIs defined for the project

- Identify, evaluate and mature opportunities in partnership with R&D team, and set up projects to scale up the winning propositions

- Secure successful roll out of global project in deployment phase across regions and phases

- Manage 'must do' projects related to regulatory compliance and corporate commitments (Ie sustainability) to secure portfolio freedom to operate

Gather the pet, pet owner and market knowledge on the category, do category deep-dives and portfolio review
