Disease detection through smell? That’s right. With every breath, we release a health snapshot right into the air. This is the body’s hidden language, and up until now, it’s gone unnoticed. We're changing that. Inspired by nature and with a boost from NASA, we’ve developed the world’s first fully-integrated diagnostic breathalyzer. It’s capable of decoding these health signals in real-time and at any point-of-care. We’re bringing the sense of smell to the forefront of medicine and welcoming a new era of healthcare.

Are you passionate about unlocking a new era of healthcare? Do you thrive in thinking big, embracing innovation, and pushing boundaries? Are you driven to consistently exceed expectations and deliver extraordinary results? If so, this role could be your perfect fit. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to elevate human health by unlocking the digital sense of smell.

Here’s exactly who thrives at Noze.

  • Aligned. This is the place for go-getters who are ambitious. We value visionaries who are all in for exponential growth and committed to making a big impact.
  • Collaborative. We believe success is a team sport. Our people thrive on collaboration, embrace feedback, and are committed to continuous improvement.
  • Driven. We're not the kind to wait for directions - we take the initiative and push projects forward. We are high performers who are proactive, own their work, and consistently strive for excellence.

Who You Are:

You are a driven and dedicated Mechanical Engineer who is ready to take ownership of challenges and develop systems that generate high-quality datasets. At Noze, you are prepared to give your best effort every day, driven by a passion for innovation and excellence. This role demands a high level of enthusiasm, commitment, and resilience to tackle complex challenges and contribute to groundbreaking projects.

As a curious self-starter with a strong startup mindset, you are eager to bridge the gap between hardware, mechanical/pneumatic systems, and chemistry. You don’t just build to spec—you understand the broader needs of the company, proactively design your own specifications, and source the necessary information to build systems that align with these goals. You thrive on rolling up your sleeves and tackling complex problems head-on, bringing both creativity and analytical thinking to your work.

With a solid foundation in mechanical and electronic engineering, combined with a good understanding of chemistry, you excel at designing and validating systems that are not only functional but also reliable. You take pride in creating robust, data-driven solutions and are always seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes. Your ability to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components into cohesive systems is a key strength, and you are constantly looking for opportunities to innovate and contribute to the success of the team.

What You Will Do:

In the Aroma Engineering team, we design, fabricate, and use custom-made high precision pneumatic testing and labeling platforms. These platforms are able to generate highly precise, synthetic breath biomarkers that can be applied/tested with our breathalyzer.

To optimize our electro-mechanical/pneumatic test platform and develop new solutions, we require a specialist who is able to:

  • Design, test, and verify electromechanical pneumatic systems tailored to the specific needs of our Aroma generation lab, utilizing your expertise in fluid dynamics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ensure these systems are highly automatable, enabling continuous, 24/7 data collection.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, hardware, and software components into cohesive, reliable systems.
  • Lead the testing and validation processes, ensuring all systems operate efficiently and meet safety and performance standards.
  • Develop and implement data acquisition systems to capture and analyze lab results accurately.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to refine and enhance lab procedures, contributing to the overall success of our projects.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing systems to ensure ongoing high performance.
  • Document all processes, designs, and test results in a clear, organized manner for easy access and understanding by the entire team.

What you need:

  • A degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an automation development environment, preferably focused on electromechanical or pneumatic systems, particularly for medical-grade applications.
  • Strong background in chemistry, with the ability to apply this knowledge to lab system design and operation.
  • Proven experience in designing, testing, and validating electromechanical systems.
  • Solid understanding of control systems, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for system design and analysis.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proficiency in software development languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly document and present findings.
  • A relentless drive to achieve excellence and a willingness to go the extra mile to meet and exceed project goals.
  • References will be required from previous employers

Nice to have:

  • Experience in VOC generation or similar lab setting.
  • Familiarity with advanced fluid dynamics and its application in pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for handling chemicals and operating lab equipment.
  • Experience with automation and control systems, particularly in a lab setting.
  • Experience with medical devices and clinical data studies.
  • Relevant certifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, or lab safety.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to join a forward-thinking company with a collaborative team of innovative thinkers.
  • A rewarding career path with diverse opportunities for professional growth.
  • A competitive compensation and benefits package, including employer-paid health and dental benefits for eligible employees.
  • A generous learning and development budget for conferences, classes, and other professional development events.
