Platform Engineer Team Lead - Storage

The platform lead manages and leads enterprise storage administrators and is responsible for operating storage infrastructure. The team lead ensures policies, standards, and procedures are followed. The Platform Engineering Team lead reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performance management of (8) storage engineers
• Manages projects through the design, implementation, and testing
• Responsible for storage planning including sizing and procurement
• Manage and maintain the bank's storage infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry standards
• Provide expertise and support for storage management across block and file environments
• Work closely with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams on a regular basis to implement and manage the design, development, and execution of technical solutions that meet or exceed current and future needs of the organization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and tools, making recommendations for their integration and optimization of our service offering
• Drive automation initiatives to streamline PKI processes and enhance service delivery efficiency
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators.  Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff.
• Follow and promote use of industry best practices, standards and procedures.
• Maintain a strong aptitude and working knowledge of Bank applications, systems, development environments.  Maintain a detailed understanding of vendor technologies and services used by the Bank.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

• A combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ engineering and/or architecture experience and 3 years leadership experience
• Storage Area Network (SAN) experience
• Experience with disaster recovery
• Capable of working on multiple projects of a complex nature
• Proficiency with project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Complete understanding of the system development life cycle
• Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution
• Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 10 years’ technology management or large program leadership experience
• Extensive application and product knowledge experience with skills, application(s) and functions of technology area led
• Subject Matter Expert understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications
• Understanding of multiple business area’s functions
• Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities
• Experience with skills, application(s) and functions of technology area
• Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework
• Aware of the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives with ability to shape direction
• Self-motivated and able to motivate others
• Understanding business(es) supported and its’ terminology

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $110,635.01 - $184,391.68 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
