POSITION - Union: Pipe Fitter B

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION: CT - East Hartford - Meadow St

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must pass the Bennett mechanical comprehension test.

• Graduate of high school, trade school, or other formal technical training with experience in the plumbing / pipefitting or HVAC field

• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.

• Must have a MVD license and good driving record.

• Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude, with basic skills and experience in cither Distribution or Fitting work

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions and interpret drawings or prints.                                 

• Requires mandatory progression to the bottom of Pipe Fitter A classification within 18 months.

• Requires successful completion of a written test and field observation audit.

• Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting and manual labor duties as required.

DUTIES:

• *Coordinates and performs work assigned.

• *Performs or assists as necessary in installing, changing, relocating and removing meters; installing, maintaining,
  repairing and removing piping, meter connections and service regulators.

• *Installs, repairs and maintains gas, water, vent and other piping.

• *Must be capable of working semi-independently within 12 months.

• *Has full responsibility for performing work safely and in a satisfactory manner.

• *Responsible for organizing and maintaining tools and equipment assigned in an orderly condition; maintaining truck stock in accordance with prescribed requirements.

• *Performs other miscellaneous Fitter Division work as required.

• *Assists Serviceman on jobs requiring semi-skilled manual assistance, and performs other miscellaneous work as required.

• *Performs the duties of a Meter Representative A.

NOTE: *Identifies essential functions

This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive Position. Any applicant accepted for this classification would be required to comply with all drug and alcohol regulations. This Position may require passing a Respiratory Fit Test.
