Quandela is an innovative leader in the field of photonic quantum computing, dedicated to advancing technology through the manipulation of single photons. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated PIC Characterization Engineer to join our Integrated Photonics Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for characterizing photonic integrated devices that are essential for our quantum computing applications.
The PIC Characterization Engineer will be responsible for independently conducting characterization experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the development and optimization of our integrated photonic devices and systems. Strong expertise in laboratory experimentation, Python scripting, and an ability to perform measurements on photonic integrated circuits are essential. The candidate will work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the successful integration of photonic components within our quantum technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform optical and electrical testing of PICs, including but not limited to parameters such as insertion loss, polarization behavior, and response time.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports. Utilize Python scripts and other tools for data processing, visualization, and modeling.
- Independently operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including optical test beds, oscilloscopes, fast RF modulators, power meters, and other measurement instruments for PIC testing.
- Work with the members of the team and with external foundries to provide feedback on device performance and help drive improvements based on characterization results.
- Ensure proper documentation of all experiments, results, and methodologies, maintaining high standards for reproducibility.
- Conduct measurements in cryogenic environments, to assess device performance under various conditions.
- Assist in the packaging of photonic devices, including the integration of optical fibers and other components into the PIC system.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a closely related field
- At least 3-years hands-on experience in the characterization of photonic integrated circuits, with a deep understanding of optical and electrical testing methods.
- Proficiency in Python programming for automating measurement routines, data analysis, and visualization.
- Experience in working independently in a laboratory environment, including the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Familiarity with cryogenic testing equipment, PIC packaging and/or RF fast modulation is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively and work collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
A unique, challenging, international environment.
- Strong potential for fast career development within a growing highly professional team
- Close collaborations with national and international research groups and private companies
- Tickets restaurant (Swile), participation to the transportation costs and saving plans
