The Performance Excellence Director serves as the primary role responsible for executing CW strategy through portfolio management of integrated system initiatives and projects. Initiative and project efforts managed by this role will span across all aspects of operations and system quality and health outcomes efforts which advance the six domains of health care quality: safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable, and patient-centered. This includes project portfolio management, planning and sequencing, as well as assuring efficient and effective timing, resource utilization and measurement throughout an initiative life cycle. Knowledge of change management processes for successful project implementation is essential.
This position requires a strong understanding of health care delivery, including strategy, quality, business planning, operations, workforce challenges, and financial conditions. The Performance Excellence Director will provide process improvement and transformation consultative expertise to clinical, operational, and support service leaders and teams. This work encompasses the provision and application of improvement methodologies and deployment of change management strategies. The Performance Excellence Director will assist in creating a culture of continuous improvement and in building performance management, organization optimization, and strategic execution skills across the system.
The role reports to the Chief Quality and Safety Officer and collaborates closely with Hospital President and Chief Operating Officer, and other leaders across the health system.

Education
A bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, or another relevant field is required. A master’s degree in business, health administration, nursing, or another relevant field is preferred.
Experience
- At least five years of relevant experience including foundational project and program management skills, understanding of health systems operations.
- Two (2) years of experience in supporting organizational change, Project Management, Change Management, and Performance/Process Improvement.
- Consultant experience desired. Technical experience with project management software to collect data, analyze and plan projects and programs within the portfolio (budgeting, contracting, vendor management, etc.).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to use project management and process improvement methodologies to yield enhanced performance and elevated outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills consistently to effectively lead teams and drive projects to completion.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex projects and the expertise to guide others as a subject matter expert.
- Strong analytical ability to identify and illustrate relationships among complex activities.
- Proven experience in managing complex, cross-functional projects/programs, and ability to proactively monitor and identify project, program, and/or organization risks.
- Ability to designs and lead change management plans associated with strategic and operational initiatives.
- Ability to generate change through influence rather than authority to accelerate organizational transformation.
- Provide workgroups, committees, and taskforces with exceptional facilitation, educational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and intentionally to complete projects according to agreed-upon project timelines, achieving milestones and deliverables as per the plan.
