As a Payroll Tax Notice Specialist, you will help triage and troubleshoot Federal and State withholding and unemployment tax notices on behalf of our clients. You will have the ability to dependably execute a set of daily, quarterly, and annual tasks to make sure our clients are compliant. Your role involves working cross-functionally to solve customer issues, as well as communicating with local, state, and federal agencies.
Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
- Execute and maintain Tax Notice resolution across all local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
- Resolve payroll tax notice inquiries/issues generated by our Customer Support team and our internal ticket creation within an agreed upon service level agreements (SLAs)
- Working knowledge of preparing amended payroll tax returns to include W2C’s
- Research, resolution and follow up directly with Justworks Payroll clients and taxing jurisdictions for tax notice resolution. This includes managing the abatement process.
- Triage incoming issues/inquiries to identify need for engineering intervention
- Monitor inquiries/issues to identify trends in payroll tax issues
- Recommend and execute improvements to processes
- Maintain internal resource center regarding payroll tax policies and proceduresExecute changes to payroll tax processes and procedures along with key stakeholders in Engineering, Product, Finance, Customer Success, and Compliance
- Actively participate in the training of new team members and provide progress reports to the direct manager
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of payroll tax research/notice resolution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Process-driven while able to be resourceful and adaptable
- Technologically savvy; experience with utilizing multiple systems and software programs
- American Payroll Association (APA) Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) a plus
- Experience with multi-state accounts for single large employer OR multi-employer in multiple states required
- Experience working with payroll provider in a similar role
- Tax Filing and Payment experience
- MasterTax experience
- Customer Service experience dealing with payroll or tax clients
- Strong analytical skills
The base wage range for this position based in our Tampa, FL Office is targeted $36.30 to $39.93 per hour.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
